I believe at least most of our Sailors that are in A school will have the opportunity to take leave at Christmas but there are so many Sailors that will not have that chance.

There has been alot of discusson on this site about a "blue candle" lighting on Christmas in honor of all Sailors that cannot be home for the holidays. I've posted details about this event in the thread above.

Pamela - I am lighting a blue candle in your son's honor this year.

Whooooooa - did I miss that post? You are getting married during his Christmas leave?!!! We want details and photos and heck an invitation to the wedding!! Oh wait...I'm busy that week!!! We will absolutely be celebrating for you and Mickie from afar!

Kellie, I enjoy your enthusiam - may it live forever!

Millye ...is Claire holding out on us?! Is she waiting to surprise you at Christmas with her orders, tell that Sailor...we are getting impatient!!! (Like she is not!!)

I have cried way too many times today ladies - I'm such a sentimentalist! This weekend we finally kicked it in gear, decorating, shopping, wrapping - my goodness I will have BOTH of my children home in just five days!! So listened to Christmas music all day long and everytime they played...I'll be home for Christmas - the tears would just start. Tears for the fact that our sailor will be home and tears for those that won't have their sailors this year.

Then I am unwrapping precious Christmas treasures and came across two ceramic Christmas mice that Nick gave me when he was just four years old - he was SO proud of those mice! I had to pick up the phone to call him - probably good he did not answer, I was just sobbing with happy memories. I'll probably be crying thru most of Christmas leave.

Oh Lynn, you are a wise mom and that proudly supported your sons who have been so ready to serve. I'm glad that Wade is still pro Navy, he has almost a year invested at this stage. Hoping that his hand continues to improve and we know his future will be bright - military or not.

Welcome Amanda!!!

We have some other DEP families here that are also part of the AECF program. Congratulations to your son - on top of being proud - you will be a very educated Navy Mom before he even gets to boot camp!!!

Graduation is very different from A school now Anti M - there were FCs graduating this past Friday that our son had never met before (when back in the day, the class started as a group and finished as a group...together) and now it is a mix of rates - more than just our ETs and FCs. My hubby was surprised at the difference in graduation as well. They still get certificates :-D
