Pamela, it is so hard to be separated from our sailors but even more so when they are in the sand. Our hearts go out to you and your family during this duty.

Pam, that must be nerve-wracking ... but wow, don't speculate about the systems by name! Yikes, that's incredibly bad OPSEC. I used to have a Top Secret clearance and I still refer to the stuff I worked on loosely, even though I know it is obsolete. "The gear" is enough, we'll know what you mean, okay? We all have to do our part, and that means moms and families too. There's support and there's being mindful of National Security. We can have both here.

I hope he's well and returns to you safely.

I don't mean to be a meanie, but I still take all my training and my oath to heart!

Thanks Hoppi ... I must have misunderstood my ET. Wish it had been self-paced when I went through, that six months is a long, long time to be in class.

Wow, the Spanish Alps? Hmmmmmmmm...I bet a few sailors might enjoy spending their holidays that way! Wednesday is now becoming my favorite day of the week here...orders, so exciting ...so scary!! Keeping our fingers crossed for Claire.

Marsher - one step closer...to his real job. Did he get his E4 yet?

Rae Ellen, I wish your sailor could be home with you too!

ATT is definitely self-paced, ET A school is still instructors ... my friend just went through last year. As far as I know, it has never been modules past the ATT part.

ET A school is not self-paced, only ATT. Tell them to do well and stay squared away, the better their grades and evals, the higher they will stand in class rankings. When the batch of orders come in, based on the dream sheets AND the needs of the Navy, the sailors with higher class rankings will get first choice.

Helen, so glad that Matt got thru that rough spot and can continue on now!

Ashley, A school will take about 5 - 7 months for your boyfriend to complete once he actually starts classes. It varies from sailor to sailor as it is a self-paced program and some will finish sooner than others.

Your boyfriend will receive liberty and once he is Phase II, he can leave the base and even stay out for the weekends but there are restriction on how far from the base he can be and he either has to be on the buddy system or have family sign him out. Kellie can probably tell you better as she has a financee in AECF and she has been able to go up and visit him a few times during his stay.

Hi all, yes we are back at home. Got in late Saturday night.

It was awesome seeing our son after eight months. Most of you know hubby used to be an FC and he has said all along...A school graduation are you kidding me?!! They had the sailor a certicate, shake their hand and boot them out of there but must say - my old FC was impressed with the ceremony and really pleased that we were able to attend!

We talked to Nick when our plane landed and he said....mom, you are going to be good in the morning right? I said of course I will Nick, I know the balloons and noise makers that I brought won't be a problem!!! If he didn't know me better - it probably would be scared!

When we arrived at the graduation, someone was nice enough to send our son out to the hall so we could greet him privately. I REALLY tried not to cry but I did then and thru much of the ceremony. I just get so emotional about my kids - regardless of how old they are!

One thing that was very different from what my husband experienced in his day, his graduation class was strictly FCs. Now the graduation is made up of a number of rates; ETs, FCs, ICs and GMs. There literally were FCs in the group, that Nick did not even know. But with the self-paced program in place, they do not start as a group and finish at different times. I'm glad C school is not like that. There were probably 6 -8 family members in attendance, three of them were wives that live there.

We seen a frocking ceremony, an ET re-enlistment where this young sailor received a nice check and his very pg wife was there to participate. They had alot of fun with the sailor and he was able to give a few words afterwards and it was really touching.

Now I must get my focus on and start decorating for the holidays, both of our kids will be home for the holidays and I'm going to treasure this one as I expect next Christmas - our sailor will be with the fleet and who knows where he will be.

Thank all for all your support and well wishes thru A school! P.S.
It's so nice to see that rating badge on their uniforms!
