Milly, our heart and prayers go out to you, we lost our mom from the same cancer and within three weeks of being diagnosed.

Jackie, what great news about John and I bet it just motivates him to keep doing a great job! I knew with your Navy background, you knew exactly what I was talking about. Nick has had long term girlfriends since kindergarden!!! So maybe these few months solo have been a nice change for him - it certainly is giving him a chance to focus on school.

Barbara, is Steven moving to a new ship when he starts ATT? They generally will move them at this point. Our son started ATT, moved into his new ship and had duty all on the same day!

Why do moms understand that so well Jackie but our young sailors need those relationships. Guess that comes with age!!!Steve and I did not marry until I was 28 and he was 30, he was deep into his Naval career at that point but I believe because I had a few years on me, I was able to handle deployments, living overseas, etc. better than most of the 21 year old brides. It was both amazing and appalling to me that as soon as the ships would leave port so many of the young wives went off to the clubs. One of the Seals we knew was threaten that he would be cut from the program that his young wife was such a mess everytime the ship deployed. He ended up choosing the Seals over his bride! It's not an easy life for military familes and right now they just have alot to focus on. Go out and see the world or at least get your first deployment behind you and then see how strong that relationship is. And all we can do as moms is ...exactly what you are trying to do!

Bravo John!!! I know he is smiling today! One big leg of schooling behind him :-)

Nick and his girlfriend broke up right after boot camp and personally being a very selfish mom (hehehe) I hope he doesn't even look at another gal until his schooling is behind him. Focus, focus, focus and then factor in deployments, long distance relationships ...it can make a young sailor crazy! I'm willing to wait to be a grandma!!!!

I'm a 100% sure he will be okay Jackie, I know he must be excited to wrap it up and head over to A school. Nick seems to be enjoying A school more than ATT, it gets more into the meat of their jobs. How much longer will John be in GL? We go until mid November.

Goodness kelly! I only came home to the # 1 rated question...what's for dinner?!!!

I can say why you would be concerned for the pig and your horses. Is there an animal control that you can call and ask some questions to? Where is CCR when we need her?!!!

Oh Jackie, he will be okay and I'm willing to bet that the Chief KNOWs there are some challenges with this computer based program. Nick has told us that the instructors will tell them in advance which tests are going to be an issue due to how the material is going to be written. One understand those last couple of mods are hard but I know John will make it! Then does he start A school??

just talked to Nick and he didn't mention the storms at all but they could have went right past him and he wouldn't notice!

He's on the Cole and he said yesterday they woke everyone up on the ship at 4 am for a mandatory drug test and every ship is to be awaken tested over the next two weeks. Perhaps with some of the issues that have taken place they are trying to send a very loud message to all the sailors.

On a different note, he sounds really good and pleased with A school so far. Took three tests today and got ...three Bs back on them. Outside of that one test, he has scored pretty well.

So many new members and many of them still in boot camp with questions on what an ET or FC is. So I've posted the actual job description in the discussion forum for anyone that may need it.
