My sailor starts school today! He is happy only two days of hold. :)

I went through in the winter of 2012. Boot camp (Oct 3-Nov 30). I was on hold for ATT as an FC for about a week after Christmas stand-down(Jan. 2013) So depending on the school anyone can be on hold from 3 weeks to 3 months. As far as A school, et and ic are on the same schedule and it rotates every year (not fiscal) from days to nights and vice-versa, which would make them on nights this year.

Week one of hold for my ET Sailor. (Well ATT first) what is the average hold time anyone have a clue?

Ah. I mostly know ET's and ICs since we're in night school together. The number one may ET pick, picked San Diego for his permanent duty station, if I'm not mistaken.

Valentine my son is an FC and currently in C school. His final duty station is San Diego.

Scottsmom is he in San Diego? ETs in A school all live in the same barracks. I probably know your son.

My son finished A school in May and is now in C school.  He was the Distinguished Military Graduate in his class #1 - Gave him first choice for his assignment!  He had done a lot of research on what he wanted to specialize in so that motivated him to study hard so that he would be able to take his pick.

A school is where it really matters. I was number 11 in my class at ATT but 3 in A school. They're two totally different school.

That's fantastic information Susan and Valentine! I will be sure to pass that on to my Sailor- great incentive to study hard. :)

Exactly what susan said. I graduate July 18 and just picked orders on Monday for my permanent duty station. I picked 5 of 30 based on GPA. ATT is 11 weeks long and once he graduates there he'll go to A school for 19 weeks. I had PIR 25 Oct started ATT around 20 November and am still in school and waiting for my hard copies of the orders I picked.
