Oh my Marsher, your son is probably thinking he is resorting to prehistoric days have to...email! I have finally learned (not mastered) texting between Nick and our daughter at college - it is their way of communicating!

I'm keep his boot camp letters forever! I may never see his handwriting again!

Thanks for the well wishes for Nick, thinks it's just a nasty cold. He just never gets sick and we encouraged him to do sick bay but he said...no time, school and duty. Sounded like he slept the weekend away so hopefully he is stronger today. And it's nothing compared to what John and Wade have been going thru.

I miss those letters as well.

Oh LynnDear, I know in Nick's A class right now, it is a combination of ETs, FCs, ICs and GMs and although it is more hands on than ATT - it's alot of computer work.

I don't want him to get reclassified, he has come so far. I know he scored high to be in the ET program and most of the advanced programs, he is going to have to go thru a similiar ATT and A program. I don't know what the answer is but squeezing a ball is encouraging and you are right - he would need his hands to scrap paint and that would be an absolute waste for his intelligence level.

Emails are old fashion, leaving vms for them are old fashion! I have yet to leave a vm for either of our kids and they actually listen to it! They will see our # in the missed calls and will call back and say...did you need something?!!!

Carol, sometimes it is good for them to be challenged and at this stage of A school, I think they are all getting the message - performance counts. That 100 on the test had to make him feel much better.

Nick's sister would have LOVED to drive that Wrangler but we vetoed it. She has a nice safe, gas smart car and visions of her driving around with the top off with gas at $4 plus a gallon just didn't excite me. It is a gas hog compared to her car and since she is in college - we pay for her gas so we still get a say in the matter. Evil parents here!!

For everyone who's been kind enough to ask: I heard from my son on Friday. He talked a little bit longer than usual, but then, as usual, he says, "I got to go, but I'll call you back later" Now you know LATER never comes. But he didn't do anything for the 4th, saw the fireworks from his window, after failing the first test in A school, I think it scared him, he's been gradually pulling his grades up on every test since. Last test was a 100. I think its the first time he's been challenged. Probably threw him for a loop.

Thanks Carol, we didn't get around to the photos this weekend but we did sell our son's Jeep! That made him happy and we are delighted to have our garage back :-).

Just talked to our son, he has slept away most of his weekend has a horrible cold. He said Friday they had mandatory "fun day" at the beach. Anyone else go have fun?

Being on crutches is such a drag, awkward and hard to get around, I've done them a FEW times! I believe my son said they have elevators in the BEQ and behinds the school as well - but if he is having to walk to and from these buildings, I imagine he is exhausted.

Thanks for the great wishes, wonderful evening. It is nice to still be in love 23 years later.

Jackie - so glad the news is encouraging about John, is he going to classes while fighting this?

Thank you Millye - going to try to scan some of his Sailor day pictures over the weekend.

His full face beard is amazing - considering he was in uniform!

Okay ladies, just want to share with you today is our 23rd wedding anniversary and we j ust got the coolest gift from my mom in law. She sent me Steve's boot camp photos...from 1982! He was quick to point out that his division had FIVE flags and he was in division 903 - drumline...so he didn't have to do duty!!!

They also were allowed to have beards and mustaches back in the day. I still remember crying when the Navy changed the rules and he had to shave - I had never seen him with a clean face!
