What ship is your son on Jackie? Talked to ours briefly tonight and he didn't mention the AC so he's probaby in a different building.

He was heading back to the school for more of that ''volunteer" study time. He was feeling behind as they lost almost three days recently. Friday was change of command so no class, the friday before was frocking ceromonies and apparently Monday there was issues with the computers so although he is still ahead of the game - he's feeling behind so off to class he went. Warms my heart to know ...he's in class again :-)

I don't know that it is a new program but it sounds like a modification to ATT/A program for FCs...not sure about the ETs.

From what CCR and I have both been told by our sons, they do so many weeks at ATT, then go to A school and then go back to ATT ...right CCR? My son tried to explain that it is to enhance their learning ie less failure rate. Don't know how long they have been doing this. He has said that he will be done with this portion of ATT about June 15th and that is much shorter than we were expecting. Initially we were told it was a 10 week self paced class and although he is a head of the game - he's not weeks ahead. So perhaps there is something to it. I'm of the position, he's going to be at GL for quite awhile and it doesn't matter to me which class room he is sitting in...as long as he is in class!

Your son probably won't be told what ship he is moving to ...until it's moving day but there are either 3 or 4 different buildings for them.

Such a helpful group here - Kelly probably don't know what to start her morning with! lol.

Okay CCR, what your son has told you about doing so many mods and then off to A school and then back for more training is what my son tried to explain to us as well. They have alot of data to work with and perhaps they have found this method better suited for learning. Our son started ATT, just two days after yours and he is telling me his projected grad date is June 15th - which I did not understand how that was possible but perhaps with just doing so many mods than over to A school that makes some sense to me now.

One of the biggest things I learned as a Navy wife was to roll with the punches...it's starting to come back to me again!!! lol

Kelly, take some Pepto for your tum-tum.
Hello Marsher - hey I wanted to ask you, I talked to my son Friday and he told me the ATT was Advanced Technical Training. Could it be a different course for a different rate? He's an FC.
Any who - Mary, wanted to keep you updated as the wind has changed again and I had to send the boom over the sailboat and change the jib. LOL. My son said they had such a high drop-out rate with the program that he is in the new program I hinted at earlier.
He does 13 mods and then goes to A school and will take 30 mods after A school. They said this is a new approach because they poured all the mods into their heads and it was too much to grasp and they'd forget it all before A school. I told him that made perfect sense to me because when I train people, I give them the basics, let them get on the floor and do hands on, while coaching and training for another 2 weeks to fine tune the rest. Anyhow, I heard its their attempt at reducing drop out rates. When you posted the drop out rates before, I thought you were talking about Seals!! I couldn't believe it. So maybe this will help, as the pre-buds have helped the Seal program.

Don't quote me, but I got the feeling he meant when he went to his daily classes (wherever that is) that THEIR computer wouldn't work for him or wouldn't load the lesson. That doesn't mean it didn't work for the other guys/gals.
Comment by CCR on June 3, 2008 at 5:23pm
Well Mary, you might be right about that moving target. As I've said, my son has been going to extra voluntary classes plus he is "self-managed". However, he went in a couple days ago and it wouldn't load, said the computer was low on memory, and he couldn't do his lessons. So I guess he lost a whole day.

I didn't hear about the room inspection or the power outage...wondering if my son slept thru it! He did take a nap this afternoon since his class was cancelled but was heading back over there tonight to do that...volunteer study.

Hey, Julie, good luck with the mom and step-mom, are they friends or fiends, lol. Just kidding.
Hey, I didn't hear about the tornado watch or any of that. Just, hey mom, could you take my money out of my account and send it to me?
