Ah the Navy...constant wonderment! Nick was initially told ATT was about 10 weeks long however if he just started it this week and is due to grad June 15th - that's not many weeks at all! Based on their progress in self-paced program, I think that grad date might be a moving target.

I love their friendly rivaltry and it exists in every rate. Nick just called I told him about the penguin - he laughed he said he seen it last night at the competition. I asked him what Cole's was ...he said he didn't know that they had a mascot (but he has only been there 3 days) then again...perhaps that is why the other ships are trying to steal it!

He got out of class at 10:30 this morning, said there were some promotions today so the instructors were part of that. He was heading back over to do some of the voluntary study this evening.

I told him that Wade only has three weeks of ATT left and I'll be anxious to see when A school starts for him and he said...I only have three weeks left as well. His targeted date of grad is June 15th...I know Wade got there well before Nick...was he on hold that long?

oh yeah, I called our son for the first time last night @ 8 pm central time and he was in bed!! 9 hours of classes, PT, Captain's Cup competition and he had duty again today, he was wiped out.

Great ideal Kelly - it's now the AE/CF group. I was afraid if I changed it in midstream it might mess folks up but it's done now.

Jackie - glad that you caught up with us. Our son started ATT on Tuesday and is liking the classes but he also mentioned the "voluntary" evening sessions which he was planning on doing soon. Our son is on the Cole.

LynnDear - your son and CCRs are in the same building. She made me laugh earlier - if we put these two buildings together, we would have Cole Porter!

We heard from our son twice yesterday cuz it was my husbands birthday. I called Patrick to tell him to call back and wish him HB! I forgot it myself last year. I'm a baaaaad girl.! Too much on my plate I guess.
He told me that his ATT is morning classes instead of the night classes like the seamanship. Also, they have (quote unquote )VOLUNTARY TRAINING CLASSES to attend now. He goes to those too. Apparently, you can volunteer to go to these classes and it is STRONGLY ENCOURAGED. So its really not voluntary, you'd be stupid not to go, right? So I guess he is going all day to classes now. I told him, what else are you gonna do? Get it over with, its no different than when he worked 2-3 jobs at one time.

We're talking ET here!

Oh Kelly, the rumors, the rumors. Nick is also hearing some of these things but like you say until it it is official - truck on. Our son is so easy going that he will deal with whatever the situation - now his dad? He might be the one to pout!

He also had a one week hold before SCC so he was delighted when there was no hold going into ATT. Hoping we will hear from him tonight, he was rushed and tired last night when he called but anxious to let us know that school started and he moved.

He started ATT! Said he did three days of school ...in one day (it is self paced). In the same day, he had duty, started school, moved to his new building and got to clean the building. He was tired but was excited about the class and the content was interesting for him right from day one!
