Ann Romney just told the women on the View that having her sons go off on missions for the LDS church is like them going off to war. WHAT THE HELL???

Group for moms with deployed kids  Ginger, please join this group, you'll find moms with a lot of experience to help you cope while your son is deployed...My son liked deployment, I was so delighted when he fell in love and finally said he didn't want to deploy again and was leaving the Navy!

Comment by Gingerman on June 8, 2012 at 9:18am

It's been a while since I've posted.  My son experienced his first indirect fire this week.  Said it's easy to sleep through.  Deployment scares the hell out of me, but he is enjoying himself.

My experience is that our Senators do write back...John Cornyn will send me a form letter on whatever topic it is, and Kay Bailey Hutchinson will tell me, politely, that I'm not quite bright enough to think like she does. Our Congressman (for now, the Texas Republicans have been successful in dividing my county into 5 districts and screwing as many Democrats as they can) is Lloyd Doggett, and he responds quickly every time. My son put down a wrong date on his VA /GI Bill paper work and posted on Doggett's facebook page, within a day he had someone in Doggett's office in touch with him and assigned to help him straighten it out. It generally takes about 3 weeks to get the form letters, especially if you do not agree politically with whoever you write (that's my experience, anyway) I'd hit their facebook pages, just remember to be courteous but steadfast, and realize you could get some idiot troll responses. Ignore them and stay the course! I generally ask those type of folks "and where did you serve? or where does your child serve?" and they don't have real answers.

MalaMama....I know what you are saying.  These politicians really don't care.  Most of them don't have familiy members there and can go to bed at night and not worry.  How many of them do you suppose have visited our wounded at Walter Reed National Medical Center since most live in this area?  It really is ashame you didn't get even ONE response.  I would love to know when this young man is on tour and where.  Would love to meet him. I really believe everything is going downhill in Afghanistan and the sooner we get our loved ones out the better.

Think we need to get the conversation going over here on this board. As we've learned in the past, there are very different political views on N4M and we need to keep the Mom support board for moms with kids in Iraq/Afghanistan apolitical.

I friend of mine who I worked with is stationed at Bagram.  They said the violence is spreading.  So worried about the troops.  Why don't our politicians take a good look at this and stop all the madness and get the hell out.

Glad you can relate! Inga should be around soon, this will be good for both of you moms with kids in A, a place to visit where one doesn't have to watch out what  you say too much...enjoy!
