If you think Rick Perry would not destroy Social Security for millions of the elderly, think again...he'd start with those under 55, but he buys into the Koch plan of making the rich richer, and the poor poorer, and NO middle class to cause problems.
Understand this about Rick Perry...the governor of Texas has limited power legally, it's the LT Gov with the power. Perry's power (and Bush's before him) came from their control of the money people in Texas and that keeps the GOP lege in Texas in his power. And power is what it's about with Rick Perry...that and cash.
Jobs? Texas has jobs...the most minimum wage jobs in the nation, as well as an 8.2% unemployment rate, just 1% below national average. That's mainly because of oil, gas and federal facilities. One has to wonder what Perry thought he was going to do with the largest military installations in the nation when he was talking about secession from the union. But of course, talk is what he does best. Last month when he was talking to the half full stadium of prayer folks, 100,000 Houston folks were standing in line in the Texas heat 7 miles from Perry and his "Christian" prayers...for free school supplies for their kids. No word from the Perry camp about that at all. They didn't get national coverage. Perry did with his pandering to the rw base of Texans, tho. Shameful. Shameful also is the fact that Perry has targeted affordable health care for women in our state. Don't like abortion? then understand that 3% of Planned Parenthood's work for women is counseling women and termination of pregnancies, the rest is health care, including cancer screening for women with no insurance and birth control for all women, including high school girls. . In small towns across Texas, many times it's the only option for Texas women and now Perry has targeted it, mainly to pander to that same rw base. Since a huge precentage of Texans have no health insurance, this will add to already over burdened emergency rooms across the state, already in dire financial straits. No pre natal care form places like PP will transfer to huge costs in neonatal hospitals like Driscoll Children's Hospital. Texas already has the highest level of high school pregnancies in the nation, as well as we're 43rd in the number of kids that graduate high school.
"Corporate leaders are criticizing a 2012-2013 state budget that cuts higher-education spending while shortchanging primary and secondary schools by $4 billion in the two years that begin in September.
"For Texas to cut $4 billion from public-school funding now, when a better-educated Texas can be a bulwark against future recessions, seems unwise, not conservative and, in fact, very risky," Charles Butt, chairman of H.E. Butt Grocery in San Antonio, wrote in a letter published June 10 in the Houston Chronicle.
Public schools have started firing teachers and increasing class sizes, while colleges and universities will receive $1.2 billion less. Lawmakers didn't raise taxes or dip into the state's $9 billion Rainy Day fund."
Perry has appointed regents to universities who are focused on restricting research. That is developing serious questions about the validity of academic research when the rest of the world is aspiring to our model.
Trans Texas Corridor project, a $183.5 billion plan to build toll roads alongside railroad tracks and pipelines was Perry's baby, and would take legacy farms along those tracks and pipelines from families that had been on them for generations. One of the few times the lege didn't hand him what he wanted.
His continual corporate love was showcased after seeking to have sixth-grade girls immunized against cervical cancer, with the vaccine provided by one of his corporate donors. His goal was to make Texas the first state to require every schoolgirl to be vaccinated for the sexually transmitted Human Papillomavirus (HPV). The plan would away the right of parents to decide whether their daughters will receive the vaccine. Again, the Republicans, after a huge public back lash, stood firm against Perry.
It's about the cash, folks.
Rick Perry is playing with the numbers, working the every two year budget of Texas to make sure all the costs from his highly publized "taking care of Texas" financial stragey all come due after he has "gone on down the road."
Perry generally opposed gambling until he returned from a 2004 Bahamas junket with GOP powerbrokers including Abramoff-Reed crony Grover Norquist. Governor Perry then proposed using slot machines to finance Texas schools. But when federal money has to be matched to get to the schools, Perry manipulated that money into the general fund and Texas Schools got nada. Congressman Doggett had to iniaitae federal legislation demanding Texas fund Texas schools with federal education funds.
Perry can be a dangerous man...ask the family of the man who died on death row even after new evidence cleared him, and then the cover up...with Perry removing three members of the commission who investigated the incident. All this happened before the last primary, an innocent man was executed and Perry wanted it covered up before the voters found out. The new guy in charge of that commission? a Perry political buddy... Report from CNN here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5uz8HTojMYk ABC here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b3e2ar5OnFc&feature=relmfu
In the fall of 2005, Texas Governor Rick Perry’s office learned of a wide-reaching sexual abuse scandal involving inmates and employees at facilities run by the Texas Youth Commission, the state’s juvenile incarceration system. His office, however, failed to take any action until 2007,after the scandal broke on the front pages of daily newspapers across the state. Again, covering it up was the priority, Perry asked the Austin American Statesman to retract the story! Perry was slow to respond to the actual horrors happening to those children. When he did respond, his preference to appoint a potentially unconstitutional "special master" as opposed to a "conservator" for the commission became a quagmire. When he did appoint someone to clean up the mess, it was a political hack that was universally criticized. To date, the agency still suffers from a myriad of difficulties.
No, missed it...the Spurs were playing! I'll check the video...altho that woman gives me the creeps. Whatever those people can do to keep the media knocking at their doors, they'll do.
The thing is...if this now continues, and the media whores keep ramming down the throats of the ignorant and racist, it will prove that those still believing it or reaching to pretend to believe it are what they are...racist. Pure and simple. And this innuendo about the President's grades in college, yada...is just nonsense...and the insinuation that he was really too stupid for the excellent academic record he made for himself is again, just that...racist.
Can you believe this? people in shirt sleeves in front of palm trees, Fox trying to make the Wisconsin protesters violent...the police in Wisconsin are almost bored, not one fight or arrest...Fox "news" busted again for lying!! and people believe this? those are dumb people!
Let's face it Inga...anyone who listens to the like of Rush Limbaugh, Beck..admires trash like the media whore Palin, and her loco buddy Bachman isn't going to expect their candidates to actually walk the walk. The GOP and those instant tea baggers are lying scum of the earths. They are folks who admire Reagan, whose "tinkle down" economics was the beginning of screwing the middle class. The tax rate today is the lowest its been since the 1950's and still these ignorant bozos whine. They only know what people like Rush and Beck allow them to know...actually researching and figuring out facts is beyond their reach.
And while the idiots are screaming "cut cut cut'...our military is being supported. Wage freezes are for federal employees only, not military personnel...
The budget proposal would expand the deployment of unmanned remote-controlled drones that have inflicted heavy civilian casualties in the Afghanistan-Pakistan border region, modernize the Army’s tanks, and provide new ships and jets for the Navy.“This is no starvation diet,” the Chicago Tribune admits. “The United States military will continue to operate at a level of funding and capability that other nations can only envy.”
but if Beck and Palin (aka as Media WHORE) tell these ignoramouses to whine about the military spending they will.
How did our country get so sour and stupid? Is this what Rove envisioned when he started that "divide and win no matter what?" theory with Bush? holymoly.
