Has he had to go out on the ship or just staying there on land so far. I grand-daughter immediately had to go to the Middle east of the ship she is assigned to. She got back in Oct to Norfolk where that is their Pier location etc. and they will be leaving out in another few months or may be as soon as March. They were out 6 months and they come in and stay about 6 months redoing the ship etc getting it ready for another mission. She has a 2 year old son that is here with his dad and my daughter helps keeping him. we really hate this...
I am the grandmother of Curtis now at Great Lake graduates 3-12 and Kimberly who begins her 2nd year in March and is in Norfolk right now assigned to the James E Williams fighter ship. I also have a Grandson, Christopher just finised up 1 1/2 in US Coast Guards, he is not finishing up additional fire fighting school. He will graduate from this in April, He was on patrol from San Diego, Ca for the time after leaving his basic in Cape May, NJ.
I live our from Statham, GA. half way between Winder and Athens, GA. 10 miles from Jefferson...
Curtis's mother lives at Auburn, GA
Kimberly's mother lives in Loganville, GA
Christophers parents live in Winder, GA.
Sherri in Woodstock
Welcome Haley - you are close to many GA moms!
Hello ladies,

This is Debbie, Dennis' mom who is currently stationed in San Diego.
I live in Norcross.

Have a wonderful day!
Welcome Deb - hope we will get to meet you at one of the gatherings soon.
Hi all! Or since we're all in GA I guess I can comfortably say "Hi y'all!"

I'm Tammy & I live in Sharpsburg (not far from Peachtree City). My husband is in week 2 of boot camp, so we're just beginning our Navy journey!
I know Sharpsburg!!! There are so many areas of GA that I don't know, that I get excited when it's an area that I've been too.

Are you doing okay Tammy? THose first few weeks are really hard but I bet you get your first letter next week and that will help tremendously and then it gets much easier.
Mary- Haha, I'm the same way. I get excited when I know where an area is that someone is talking about.

I'm doing fine, thanks for asking. We've been apart for a few months because of work so I kind of got to ease into it. It's still strange not talking to him, but it'll be nice when we finally get to see each other again. I got the form letter in the mail yesterday and that was a relief. I guess it'll be next week before I get an actual letter. I didn't realize how much I love instant communication. The United States Postal Service is the Pony Express of our day & it's killing me! :o)
You only have to deal with snail mail during boot camp - once he goes to A school and even to the fleet, they get to call and email and somedays...you don't even realize they are gone because the communications can be so frequent.

SO..........treasure those letters that are like a rare piece of art!
A call would be wonderful right about now. We're selling our house in Florida (close tomorrow!!!) and it would be so helpful to be able to get in-touch with him sometimes. I understand the reasons behind the lack of communication though. It's actually flying by... we're already headed into week 4. Almost half way through!
Tammy...My daughter is in boot camp also..her PIR is 5/14, what is your husbands..my daughter is in ship 14 div 188. I live in Senoia. your next door neighbor!!!!
