Hey ya'll, my names Jamie! I have tons and tons and TONS of questions and concerns that I hope I can be helped with.
First of all, I'm not married yet! I will be on November 12th :) My fiance and I have been together for 3 years and he just joined in April of 2011. He graduated BC in June, we got engaged July 4th, and he comes home from Groton, Connecticut NEXT WEEK!!! After the wedding we will be stationed in Kings Bay and he's on the Gold Crew on the USSGN Florida. I'm starting to get very worried about housing and if I will be able to move right away with him. He has already contacted the housing office and faxed over a copy of his orders. I'm not sure if we're on the waiting list or not (I was told we would have to be married to be on the waiting list) I'm not sure how any of that works! I'm pretty sure we won't have a house when we first get there though, so I'm wondering if there's temporary lodging where we can stay (I don't want a lot of out of pocket money, this is my last week at work due to him coming home and finishing up wedding planning)
Moving all of our things won't be an issue, because our home is only 2 hours away from GA. I've already packed all of our things and they our at his house of record. He said that the movers (Navy guys) will be coming on the 14th to move all of our stuff.
If anyone has any idea about temporary lodging or how long the wait time is for base housing, that would be really helpful. I just really don't want to stay in a hotel when we first move (That can be so expensive!)
Websites would be helful too! I've already looked at nsbkingsbayhomes.com, but there's not a lot of information. Just pictures of the houses.
Thank you, Jamie!
