Welcome to our newest members!!!

Glad to see that all of our Norfolk sailors came thru the hurricane ok.

Pam, waiting for orders is so exciting and stressful at the same time. Being in boot camp is one thing, being in school is another but orders?! Well that really makes it all real and can set the stage for the next few years in most cases.

Loving these cooler temps this morning and looking forward to a nice weekend --- hope everyone gets a chance to enjoy it!

wade142 - Jamie is allowed to pick orders next week, but until he actually graduates, he won't know where he's going. The needs of the Navy will dictate that of course!! And then there is a waiting period for at least two weeks after graduation. He's on Test 11, so only three more weeks to go for him until he graduates! It's so exciting and I love listening to him tell me what he's learned. 29 Palms is nice from what I hear. We're hoping for Lejune so that we can see him over the holidays, but who knows where he'll be!

Was just talking to a GA mom on facebook and her son is at Little Creek which is there by DamNeck and they have not evacuted them yet. Earl is back at category 3 and they expect it to go north --- which should keep our sailors in Norfolk safe but they might get mighty wet.

teaparty24 --- good luck to all of those recruits! Does this mean you will be heading to GL for a PIR soon?!

Pam - we understand your concern, my nephew is at combat training now and leaves for A'stan the first week of October...scary is a word that comes up frequently in our house now.

sailordawgmom - thanks for the link on this young man --- only child, so very sad.

Hope everyone is well -

Irene - wonderful idea. My son is currently in Corpsman school and graduates on September 29. He is also 20 years old and plans on going FMTB to be the medical support for the Marines. So scary, but we support him 100%.

GA ladybug - there is group for Nukes and Groten. You may be able to get some information you need.

Ga Ladybug, I've known others that have gone to Groton...it's cold there!!!

Wade142, I'm watching for details on this young soldier. It was on the news this morning and they said he was 20 yrs. old and a graduate from Newnan High school - I'll keep you posted on what we find out.

All of these young folks losing their lives is really tugging on my heart.

Irene - you are so thoughtful. I had sent a card to Laura over the weekend from Steve and I but I'm sure she would welcome one from the GA moms.

Good morning ladies,
We had our daughter and her hubby in town for a few days and I'm not back in sync yet.

Sadly we have lost a young soldier in A'stan from Newnan, so many lives being lost this summer. It's just heartbreaking.
