wow, congratulations to all of you and your sailors accomplishments. I am so proud with you. My grandson will finish his A school in San Diego on the 21st or something like that.. I have not been able to go out there yet, it is so far and he will still be there for a few more weeks in another school and then he will get to come home for a week. He will be home for Christmas 15 days... But my sailor girl in Norfolk, she got back in from seas a week ago. It seems like the stay in a week or so and go out.. She is assigned to the James E Williams, Nuclear Fighter Ship. My Coast Guard Grandson in Alameno, Ca seems to have settled there.. He had gotten a little home sick after going there but he is feeling better.. He is the oldest of the three and just finished up his 2nd year. He is a Petty Officer and a Fireman specialist. My grandson in San Diego is a Sonar tech and he is moving on up the ladder by taking more school but had to add 2 more years to his enlistment to get what he wanted. my grand-daughter is a petty officer too and is a engineer.. Life keeps going on... Not getting any younger... It seems like I am gradually catching up with my 70 years... but I really do try to stay young... Love my grandchildren... all 17 of them....

Light at the end of the tunnel, ladies. My son who went through the flying stages at Pensacola, Whiting, and Meridian is now in WA state. We just got home from seeing him at NAS Oceana (Norfolk, VA) for dinner to celebrate his passing carrier qualifications on Tuesday! OOOH RAHHHH! Go Navy. Congratulations to you and your sailors who work so hard and make us proud.

Jamie signed up in May, 2009 and just left April 12, 2010 - so 11 months in DEP. He graduated in 2008 from Heritage. Did one year of college and called me at the end of the year and said he was at first joining the Air Force, then talked to the Navy Recruiter and, as they say, the rest is history! He's color blind anyway so I don't know if the A.F. would have taken him. He is checking into Corpsman A School in Great Lakes today.

Pam, thank you! Where is your son in A school? Was Jamie in Dep in Conyers? If so, I am sure that they were there together. Parker was in DEP since November 09.

My grandson went through boot camp graduated march 12th. Let me say this. It is very important to write, send pictures.. you can send articles what ever you can get in the regular envelope. I sent lots of pictures in each letter and he really loved that.. old times, newer times and pictures of things going on now etc. He was thrilled with the pictures. They look so forward to the mail.. those that don't get mail seem to have a harder time through this time. Boot camp is a real rough time for our boys, they try to break them down as much as they can, it is my understanding that there is nothing nice said to them while they are there. My grandson had a little break for he was in the 900 division, and they had it a little easier than the other divisions. But the day of graduation he still could not speak to us even though he walked right past us until they called liberty... then you should have heard the noise... I cried out loud, with joy and tears flowing... but many doing the same.. We were so glad to just be able to hug our boy...he was not turned into that man... It is rough and I still cry often. He will graduate from A school in San Diego on June 21 and I will not be able to be there...want to so bad..but he will not get to come home yet for his next school starts immediately. I miss him so much... I cannot afford the trip there and he did offer to help me get there but I am waiting to see when he will be able to come home so we can space the visits out etc.. but write you boys and girls.. write them every day... twice a day... just write for they look so forward to this... God bless you mothers, dads, grandparents and siblings of these soon to be sailors... They will always be in my prayers... I have 3 grandchildren now serving our country...2 sailors and 1 in coast guards...

Good morning ladies.

Lisa -- did they go in on the "buddy" system? My son and our nephew were in boot camp at the same time but entered about two weeks apart. They would pass each other when marching or in the passage ways and were not even allowed to make eye contact but we would get letters from them saying...I saw my cousin today!

Looks like a weeks of rain and humidity here-

Welcome Parker's Mom! We're also from Conyers. Jamie just graduated bootcamp on June 4. It was one of the most amazing moments of our lives! We stayed at the SpringHill Suites in Waukegan. If you need any information on the hotel or getting around Chicago, please let me know. We moved to Conyers nearly 10 years ago from the Chicagoland area.

Wade142, Thank you! I have so many questions!! Does anyone have a son/daughter that went to A school in SC (Nuclear Program)? I don't know anything about what will happen after boot camp! Thanks for the help!

Welcome Parker'smom and all of our new members!

DianeR. Congratulations to you!!! Yes, we have creative kids that have grown up with Youtube and social media. I love the pink bow on the belly - how cute! When is your granddaughter due? We are looking at Dec. 13th here.

Jean - good to see you stop in! Yes, first deployment for us and it's a week old now and still waiting to hear our first word from our sailor. The ombudsman did tell us on day 2 ...be patient email is down. Oh well, he's was calling us so frequently before the ship deployed that going for a full week seems like agony! But I'm sure they are fine.

Hope everyone is good!!!
