Arlene - you have been blessed with a wonderful family.

Just had a moment and wanted to stop in and say hello and also if you live in the Cobb County area...

Stop by a county library and make cards for military troops

No registration is required and supplies will be provided. Participating branches will host the event in the library's children's department on the following days:

Kennesaw: Thursday, May 27, 9 a.m.-5 p.m.

Congratulations to all of you and the accomplishments of your sailors. My grandson still in A school in San Diego. he put in for a package for more schooling there and if it goes through he will be there till Nov 2011. He loves it there. He has met his dream girl, who is also in the navy. She has been in San Diego 3 months longer than he has. Don't know details of how long she has been in service but she is a little doll. From Austin Texas. She wrote me a note to assure me that my grandson is thinking through everything he is doing etc. But I heard that she is planning on flying here with him when he comes back home the last of June for his first visit. I am so ready to see my sailor boy. My grand-daughter in the Navy is on the seas but said they will be docking at Camp May, Florida. She said she was so ready to see palm trees and good beach's. Don't know how far that is from here, but it would have been nice to go there etc. I really want to go to San Diego the end of this month but It does not look like I am going to get to go. He offered to buy my ticket but it is so much money... and he is coming home the middle part or later part of June... I will probably need to plan a trip when he is not going to get to come home so near the time etc. You all have a wonderful weekend.... God bless

JP's Mom, the school he is referring to is the satelite school at Fort Gordan in Augusta. Our son in law is Army but he went thru the same school there. It is an Army base but we do send some of our ETs to that school but I've only seen a couple of sets of orders over the last two years for that school but it really comes down to -- what orders come in when its time for him to pick orders. Our son is an FC and is also part of the AECF group, a year ago I would have told you that about two weeks before graduation they would pick orders for their C school BUT orders have really been held up this year and sadly in many cases, a student graduates and has to wait months for the C school orders. This is always changing as the hold periods are as well so I just say -- wait and see what happens. When is he due to graduate from A school?

Photos from boot camp are sold to the recruits before they graduate. They offer a couple of packages which can include the Keel (yearbook) and the dvd of the PIR service. A recruit can spend close to $200 but I'm so happy to have the package. Our son has never been one to like his photo taken but I think that NEW Navy pride made him say...I want those photos. He paid for them himself and was very proud to present them to us at the PIR.

I did remember seeing some chatter about an 800 number that you can call and order the photos - I will try to dig it up for you.

Or if anyone has the boot camp photo package -there is an 800 # on the envelope, please share!!! thanks!

JP mom's --- got love those Southern Eagles! It's a great school. What rate is your son going into - that will determine what happens next for him.

Alli -- I didn't realize that you had family with the 24th MEU, one of my favorite sunday school students is a Marine with the MEU and I know an ET on the ship as well. It's been a tough deployment for that ship. Will Gavin be with his cousin then??

Nick called long enough to say hi...it will be a couple of weeks before I hear that voice again...sigh.

Alli, are you doing okay with Gavin off to FMTB? What happens after this training? Just got a quick call from our Nick to say it will be a couple of weeks without calls - they are not deployed yet but are involved in an exercise that will keep them underway and no phone calls in the process...sigh.

Arlene, your family certainly knows how to honor it's Mother(s) what a beautiful day that you had.

I was happy to have one of my two children home this year but my Hawaiian based sailor did leave the beach long enough to call his mom :-)

College daughter got home Saturday night, went to the bagel shop on Sunday for a brief interview and started working today...she has never been without a job! I was kinda hoping that she might take a couple of days off to enjoy herself but when a job knocks on your door...you just gotta do it.

Hope all is well with everyone.

Glad everyone seemed to have a good Mothers Day. I had a wonderful weekend of celebrations. My sailor grand-daughter was here from Norfolk and we celebrated her brothers 18th birthday Sat night, then my husband had me 25 roses in a vase with a nice card, then some of my children that did not bring my mothers day to the Saturday night celebration came and you would not believe the table setting, we had a very lovely formal sit down dinner, the men cooked on the grill, cut the onions, and did all the putting everything on the table, and wish you could have seen the table setting, with cloth napkins, with beautiful arrangement in the center of the napkin and all the candles on the floating candles on the table. with a Tall Candles in the center. It was lovely and something we will never forget.. It was just one of my sons and his wife who planned this, one of my daughters and her future was here and two teenage children, me and my husband. We were all able to sit at the table and the tablecloth was beautiful, white over pink so dainty and pretty. Well then my my sailor grandson called me from San Diego. He and his girl friend had been to six flags in Los Angeles.. he said he had tried to call me several times during the day... I had forgot to put my cell ringer back on after we left church Oh my husband bought me 25 red roses and a beautiful card and took me to Cracker Barrels for breakfast Sunday morning. IT WAS A DAY TO REMEMBER. Missed my grandchildren I did not get to see though. Saw all my children during the weekend...

Hi all. Hope you all had a great Mother's Day. My son stationed in WA called home and we got to talk for over an hour. Then my baby girl in college in New England called and we chatted for another hour. My middle girl who lives at home with us along with her husband and son...we all had the day together! So along with getting ready to participate in a yard sale this coming Friday and Saturday...I had a very busy, good day!
