Oh yea!!! Welcome home Sailors! We were at the airport last Dec. 19th to pick up our sailor for the holidays. Airport was a zoo but the folks from USO were on hand and each of them got a rousing cheer as they arrived. Enjoy your time with him Alli and Merry Christmas to your family.

Good morning all ...and yes Irene --------- January gathering!!!

Our sailor called last night --- he won't be home for the holidays but we expected that last year. His ship is going down to three day duty sections because of the holiday leaves and he got a gift from his ship yesterday. He starts cranking...on Christmas Eve!!! Oh well, comes with the territory and he was in good spirits.

Hope everyone is fabulously awaiting the arrival of their sailors.

Wanda - congrats on the new job, nice to hear that you are loving it! Feeling like I want to light the fireplace tonight, it's cold here and getting colder outside.

Yea Alli for lower airfare!!! Airfares are such a game anymore and not a fun game at that!

He WILL graduate! If you are talking about his fare to come home for the holidays, they should be talking in class when/how to book their leave based on approved chits. Is he suppposed to report back to San Antonio on the 2nd? In GL last year they did holiday leave chits in the classroom as a group and we waited and waited for the official approval to book flights home and back again.
Has he put in a chit for the holidays? has it been approved? The school will be on standdown regardless of who graduates or not.

Yes. They can definitely keep him hanging all the way to the end. When is his report date Emily? I am asking because last Christmas sailors (like mine) that had holiday standdown leave came home but we required to go back to the base they took leave from and THEN fly to their next command. In our son's case, they were due back to A school in GL on January 4th - he checked in that day and was handed a ticket to Dahlgren ------ left the same day he arrived in GL! It would have been cheaper for them to fly him out of Atlanta to his C school BUT they were required to check into their existing command. I may not explain this well but since he took leave from GL - he was required to check back into GL. Be prepared for anything but they will get him where he needs to be.

Thalia, our daughter is at GA Southern and is on a mission to finish early as well. She got cleared to graduated next December --- but then she is looking at a wedding in January. Gonna be a fast year for her.

Quiet in GA today!!! I did a LITTLE bit of Christmas shopping, found some incredible sales!
