I know-I never thought about it being on the ouside of military families, I guess.when our soon was home last weekend, we went out to eat after church Sundayand he was in his dress blues. I was amazed at all the people who stopped by our table to thank him and ask him about the insignia on his uniform-ond lady told him that her grandfather was a Seabee, WWll. He told us that sometimes when he eats out, he goes to pay his bill and he is told it has been taken care of.! I have always had tremendous respect and awe for people in uniform, any branch of the armed forces, but I am so much more aware of all they deserve now.

Happy weekend to all. I'm happily in NAS Whidbey Island, WA visiting my son and his wife for Thanksgiving! They both look so good. I have much to give thanks for this Thanksgiving. Best to all.

The Bush is a beautiful ship, I got to see it last spring in Norfolk! Glad that he is happy there Trish.

Adamsmom --- I don't like to get mom's hopes up but most schools do shut down for the holidays. Last year standdown was Dec 19 - Jan 4th. Boot camp does not shutdown but the schools do so I would not be surprised if you get to have a sailor at home this year for Christmas. His rate info definitely should be on his contract. And Yes, he has done very well if you are sitting in the honors section!!!

Welcome Adamsmom and any new members that I have missed.

What rate did your son enlist for? That will determine where his school is, although he may not be reporting to the school until after the new year begins as most schools will have standdown periods during the holidays.
