Mary, thoughts and prayers to you and your family at this sad time. And my prayers, too, to all those at Ft. Hood. These are very trying times.

I wanna do a road trip TOO!!!! Keep me posted. I'm in Michigan, had to call hospice in for my dad and I will be staying here. Getting to the internet is a challenge even if I had time for it. BUt my sailor does call twice a day from Hawaii to check on us :-) That's the best thing I can say about the week - hope all is well and I'll catch up when I can.

I want to congratulate the moms leaving for PIR this Friday. Give those future sailors abig hug for me. Enjoy the time-make sure you take pictures-city pass might save you some money and lots to see. Make sure you go to the Nex(the big store) store and buy some of the Navy stuff that they have there. What is neat when the recruits change their hats from recruits to Navy hats. Each division designs their own t-shirts-make sure you get you one.Be there early-it fills up fast-you don't have to sit on the bottom row-you can really see better if you sit a little bit higher-we sat on the 5 row from the bottom. Just a few suggestions. Once again- Have a great and safe trip!!

JoMo's Mom-congrats-that is a great feeling!
Danielle-we were on our way to Chicago-driving-all the family in the van-when we got our son's call-we had him on the U=connect so we could all hear him at once-he was as excited to hear all of our voices as we were to get the call-plus he was surprised because he did not know his sister and nieces were coming, too! Enjoy PIR and have a safe trip!

Hi ladies, just stopping in for a moment. I am heading up to Detroit to be with my dad. He is 80 and very sick so I'm going to try to get as much time in with him as I can. Don't know when I will be back and I may take my laptop but I don't have a wireless card so it may not be of much use.

Wishing everyone well, have PIRs, safe travels, hope all of your sailors are well and I'll be in touch when I can. Please remember my dad in your prayers, he is the absolute best dad ever. Thank you.

I would also add that each division makes it's own flag design and this design is printed on T-shirts that are sold at the PIR tables. The cost is $15 per shirt but they have a limited supply of each division so you might ask your son or daughter if they would like one for a keepsake and buy it early while you are waiting for PIR to begin. They will run out of them - they also ran out of bottle water. If I remember correctly they only accepted cash at these tables - but don't quote me on that.

When we arrived at our PIR - they had the cars all in line and they made everyone get out of the cars while they inspected everything from the glove box to the trunks. Then they brought over the K-9 dogs to check for drugs. While doing this they had all the families on the sidewalk and you needed your photo id in hand, they did a quick check of our ids. All in all, the process was pretty quick ----------wondering did they discontinue the car searches???

It will be a memorable occasion for sure! We thought the traffic in Atlanta was bad-until we got to Chicago and on the North side going to Great lakes there is a lot of construction. Enjoy it and congratulations! I know you all are so proud!

Wade142 - LOL, the knucklehead division! All that matters is...they graduated! No one will care next month, next year or next century that he was part of the knuckleheads :-)

Alli, that is going to be the sweetest roadtrip that you and Stephen has ever taken!

Our future son in law left for Iraq on Sunday; daughter sent us a text message at 5:30 am --- he called her and is fine so far. Sleeping in a tent with 100 guys in Kuwait for two weeks of training before they ship to Iraq. Told her to think of him out camping with the guys :-)
