Ok families, Irene and I have been working behind the scenes and we have a picnic in the park scheduled for August 22nd in Marietta. We hope many of you will bring your families and come spend the day. I know there will be at least a couple of sailors :-) in town for the event and I will be extending an invitation to the recruiters as well.

You will find details posted in the Event room for August 22nd...A day in the Park.

Free concert tickets for Dep Leppard concert, they are playing all over the USA. I believe they are in Norfolk tonight and the concert is already sold out but they will be in Atlanta they we think (?) Nick will be home so I requested two tickets for him. I did post it in the Daily Briefs so others might be able to enjoy it.

The concert date for Atlanta is August 15th. .

I didn't realize that Lisa was part of the travel plans :-) that makes it even better. Have a wonderful time ladies.

Oh Mary H. - if you don't have enough to worry about! I honestly don't know if one or two pounds would make a difference. The Navy has the ability to be more selective now but if he doesn't report to GL - then there is an open slot in boot camp, so let's pray that it will work out for Michael. Has he talked to the recruiter???

Hey Barbara, yes it is his first set of actual orders, His A and C schools were long programs and Nick has been in school for the past year and a half.

NLT = No Later Than It is the absolute latest that they can check into their next command. But there is a six hour time difference and a long flight to Hawaii so I suspect he will be leaving a few days before that...sigh

Good morning ladies, hope you are well.

We got "the" phone call yesterday and our son will be reporting to his ship NLT August 31st. He's ready...I'm not!

Beth - good to see you surface again! It has to be frusterating for a sailor to go to boot camp, go to A school and then just sit...but once his ship gets underway - watch out! He'll be seeing so many cool ports and he'll probably say...girlfriend??

Irene and I are leaning towards a gathering in the metro Atlanta area in August. Thinking of a park here in town that perhaps we can bbq, play volleyball, baseball, water games, etc. just make a nice event of it all and invite all the families especially the siblings. We'll keep you posted on the plans - just need to tighten up a few things before we start lying it out. Hoping that everyone can drive a few miles and make it a nice size event!
