I know I'll get a vacation to Hawaii much quicker NOW!!! LOL We expect that he will report sometime early September, he is still in C school and graduates mid August so assuming hoping that he will get a couple of weeks leave before reporting - he should go September but he hasn't seen the hard copy orders yet. They just called him in to pick the orders today. His orders are for three years - the ship is deployed right now and I think they see some pretty cool ports :-)

Liesa Marie...ask your son who MCPON West is !!! He is the highest enlisted Sailor in the Navy. He has been in for 28 years and oversees over 600,000 enlisted sailors and he reports directly to the Chief of Naval Operations. Let's just say the man is ' ah well...connected! But a tremendously nice guy!

Oh Linda, how nice to have your sailor home -- and grandson too!

Laura - you might cry at graduation but happy tears!

Mary can we see a vacation to Hawaii next summer? I bet he will like it. When is he leaving? how long will he be there? Is he coming home before going? I know so many questions at once. You know the typical ones. We had so a great day yesterday.

Good Morning Ladies,
Still tired from yesterday's excitment so glad the weekend is here. Irene will be anxious to see your pictures, you always do such a nice job.

Carole, you should plan on an eight week boot camp. If they are they during the holidays, boot camp can get shorten a few days but for the most part - it's eight weeks still.

Once you get his division # - which often is in the first week. Let me know and I can help you find his graduation date. That is planned as soon as they go thru processing.

Hey guys! Well we have been home for awhile,Went to Chattanooga for dinner with MCPON West and my Navy family. We had a great time, The food was great. We had other sailors and officers, those that just joined and haven't been to boot camp. I really think everyone did enjoy each other's company.MCPON West answered any questions that the parents or kids had.He and the other officers took time with each of us. Yes and I did take lots of pictures. I have the digitals downloaded on my computer, but not on the site yet. I still have some others that have to be processed and then downloaded. I plan on having them on the site by Saturday. It gave me another great memory. I get to scrapbook some more Navy pictures.Hooyah!!! I hope we see some more of ya'll at the next meet/greet. MCPON West you and your officers are welcome to come to any of our meet/greets. We really do appreciate the time that ya'll took out of your schedule to be with us.Thankyou so much. we hope to see you again soon. Please keep in touch with us.

Good Evening ladies, wanted to extend my welcome LauraDiv229 to the group.

Just a short note from me as I just returned from Chattanooga and what a truly wonderful event it was. MCPON West is a truly sincere person that cares about your sailors. We had a fabulous turnout with almost 40 people, I was stunned when I walking in and seen the gathering. Alot of great photos were taken and I believe a good time was had by all. MCPON West was truly appreciative of the group that was able to attend. He did have his MC, Mass Communication Sailor with him and I suspect you will hear or see some photos on it soon. I had to tell him that we had our MC with us too...Irene took photo after photo! So glad to meet everyone that was able to join us.

A southeast gathering? Okay Barbara, I am geographically challenged!! What area are you thinking...

Oh thank you Marsha. I'm on (too) often as I have not worked since February but I enjoy so many of the conversations and the families that we have met along our son's Naval career.

Our son went to boot camp in Feb. 2008 and I was one of the original members of the site. I've had a chance to meet many wonderful moms/wives along the way - you will enjoy it here.

Welcome Carole! So many of us felt like you as we were waiting for that report date for boot camp. The first week or so just waiting to hear from them is really tough but once you get that first letter - wow. And then graduation is just amazing. We'll be here to help you thru the process, let us know what questions you have along the way.

Good morning GA ladies!

I won't be on much today as I'm spending the day out and about with my daughter. I am looking forward to seeing/meeting those that are able to be in Chattanooga tomorrow. It is Eastern time zone and I need to run a mapquest and just figure out what time to head out of here tomorrow. Dinner is at 5 pm but I need to get there about 4:30 to get a few details organized. If you are carpooling or carvaning with me - I'll be back later today to work out details or you are welcome to call me on my cell.

Barbara, I know it is such a long drive for you to begin with that I could only hope that you would make the trip but I did have a big question mark next to your name ;-). You know we were hoping to see ya but understand completely. One of these days Barbara J! I'm so excited for you and hubby to see Mike, I did not realize it had been since 2006 since he seen his dad...it's going to be a beautiful reunion. Can you say what month the ship deployed...I feel like he's been gone forever and it's not even my son!

Liesa Marie, sadly I'm not sure that the "real" Earth, Wind & Fire will ever play again here. It had been four years since their last show at Chastain and there certainly was a noticably difference in their style, performance, energy, etc. I was talking to a friend this morning and she said they travel with doctors now as the three original members are in their mid 70s. Ohhhh yikes, we are all getting old!!! We still loved the show, it was at the new Encore theater in Alpharetta which was a nice treat for us - it is only a few miles away and it was a beautiful evening for an outdoor show. Sounds like you have family all around us - you will have to join us next time we do a local gathering.

And emh, those audio tapes Liesa Marie...we have awhole trunk of them locked up with letters from our Navy days. I refused to ever part with them!
