Hi ladyayp, I just noticed you are on the sub mom group, & it sounds like you have 2 in the service?
Thank you all for the warm Welcome. Yes, Kathy, I know exactly where Cumming is located. I have been down to the big shopping areas by the 400 entrance & exit ramps are. Lowes,Walmart,Target,Kohls etc.. My husband tells me Cumming is huge!! I can't wait until someday I meet some of you. Yes.......we are very "proud" parents of our boys serving as much as all of you are as well.
Here is something that I know you will all love that was given to me a few days ago from another Navy Mom.

Susan, Welcome to the group!!!!!!!!!!!
Hi To All Georgia Mom's. I am a "New Georgia" mom. My husband & I just moved to Sugar Hill GA from N.J., 6 weeks ago. WMiranda, I am very familiar with the Pensacola area. My oldest son is in the Navy on a sub in San Diego, and my youngest son is in the Air Force @Eglin Air Force Base in Fort Walton. He is a Special OPS Combat Air Traffic Controller. My M-in-L lives in Destin. It looks like you all had a luncheon. My moms up in NJ just had one this weekend too. Mombychoice, we have 2 grandchildren, a 3month old & an 8year old (brothers) back home in NJ. We are leaving Friday to spend 2 weeks with them through the holidays. It looks like your are having a luncheon in January. Maybe I will be able to join all of you.
Mombychoice, we haven't decided how he is getting home for the holidays. If we end up picking him up I will let you know. Jon can always ride along. Also, we are leaving the Wednesday morning before Thanksgiving to Pensacola. If he changes his mind and wants to ride back with us let me know. I figured the boys probably knew each other from DEP! ttyl
Good morning everyone! Whew, what a busy weekend. Seems like every grandchild had something special for us to attend.
Just wanted everyone at the Golden Corral Luncheon in Douglasville to know how very, very much I enjoyed getting to know you and put a name and a sailor's name with a parent's face. If anyone asked me what I had for lunch that day my answer could well be a paper sace - I was so engrossed in all the conversations I really don't have a clue what I ate except I always remember fudge. I loved hearing all the stories of your families, sailors, and the connections that some of you discovered.
Wmiranda - Jon told us that he already knew your son because they were in DEPs together. That's cool. Hope you all have safe travels for the Christmas holidays. Wondering if he is riding or flying home for Christmas? or maybe straight to Kansas? We are watching ticket prices right now for the best deals.
I would love to have a copy of the names, addresses, emails, and phone numbers that we filled out at the luncheone. I enjoy mailings but I also love to be able to talk person to person via phone. Is there a possiblity that whomever has that list would privately send it to each of us by email? I know I would certainly appreciate it and am sure others will as well.
Looking forward to the next luncheon in January. Hope those of you who were traveling or ill and could not attend will be able to be there in January. Look forward to this group growing with more new names/faces. I will try to help spread the word.
Everyone have a great day!
So sorry I missed Saturday, I hope everyone had a nice time. I will make it next time.
Kathy I really hope we do get together around here sometime soon.
My sons graduates from A school this week and is hoping to get his indoc papers done in time for Thanksgiving. He said something about the Gov not having the $$ to pay for transportation from school to post right now so may take a bit longer then it should. I would hate to think these young men and women have to sit around after school is done and wait on a bounch of old men trying to get their act together. Sad state of affairs.....
I was so happy to meet everyone yesterday! It's so nice to get to meet all the families and I am looking forward to the next gathering. Wishing your sailors all the best!
