I've got my Italy fund started already Mary! He had several choices when it came time in A School to pick. His Instructor kind of whispered in his ear that he would be a fool not to take Italy. He gets terrible bouts of homesickness, but I'm sure once he gets his feet on the ground over there, he's going to be just fine.

Ohhh Italy, hoping you will get a chance to visit him at some point. Italy is so beautiful. I have a friend and her son was an MA and he received orders to italy right after A school - what a first duty section!

Our Sailor will home from FMTB training on Dec. 16th. He will be home until Dec. 27th, and then he leaves for Italy for two years. I am not going to handle this very well, but he loves to travel and I can't begrudge him that!

One of my grandsons will be coming home for his 1st Christmas since joining. He left for boot camp on January 13th and has only had 10 days leave so far so he will be here from the 18th till the 31st. He is in San Diego, driving with his girl-friend to Austin, TX to meet her parents, flying from there to Atlanta and then she will going to follow him the day after Christmas so she can meet his parents and then they will fly back on the 31st to Austin and drive on back to San Diego.... a long way to drive. But I guess that was the cheapest way to get to both places. They are engaged, he has already bought her a ring. Exciting times... Have another grandson, in the US Coast Guards, he is out on the sea's and will not get to come home for Christmas. We will surely miss him. Last year he was home for Thanksgiving all the way through Christmas and New Years and left out on the 3rd.. My grand-daughter may not get to come home either, stationed in NOrfolk, VA but maybe she will have a few days to get here... she has used up her leave time in taking care of business, getting things straight with a divorce etc... she has her little 3 year old in Virginia with her... she got full custody and my daughter keeps him when she will be out to sea etc... we miss them all.

You will find so many families waiting at the airport that day, from all points of the country and all branches of the service. Your hearts will be tugged a million times watching the reunions.

Our son appears to go to Jamba Juice in Hawaii at least once a day from what we can tell, they are much like our Smoothie King but they also do salads and wraps so we are sending him a nice gift card for Jamba Juice and then waiting until he moves from the barracks into his apartment in January to see what we can help him with.

Sailor mom what time does he get in. My sailor comes in that day also from GL. If any one else has some one coming in on that day maybe we could wait together.

Just saying...

I'm gonna be a grandma on Monday! Unless baby Jade decides to appear before then our daughter is under instruction to report to the hospital at 8 am on Monday!
