Sad driving thru our neighborhood today, every home has put out American flags in memory of 1st Lt. Scott Fleming who is being laid to rest at Arlington today. He was KIA 9.17.10, our hearts and prayers are with his family.

Enjoy Navy Week ladies, if you have never seen the Blue Angels - it's a spectacular show. They will be at Dobbins on Saturday and Sunday, you will want to arrive early.

We are heading out on Friday for a vacation that was planned a long time ago so I will look forward to catching up with you when we return.

Event Type: Special Atlanta Area Navy For Moms & Dads Dinner with RADM Michael Yurina
Organized by: Diane R

Event Description:
As part of the Atlanta Navy Week (Oct. 11-17, 2010) celebrations, we are excited to schedule a dinner for the Navy for Moms, Dads, new Recruits and their Parents with RADM Michael Yurina, and other Navy officers representing the Navy Recruting Office, a USS Georgia sailor, and a Navy Diver. This will be your opportunity to have your questions answered by a diverse panel of Navy Officers.

The dinner is set for Scalini’s Italian Restaurant and you can order off their Early Dinner Specials ($9.95 plus drinks, tax and tip) or their regular menu. The restaurant will provide individual/family checks for us.

If you plan on attending the dinner, please RSVP directly to me via email including your name and number of people attending. We are limited to 70 attendees. Also, to show how proud we are of our sons and daughters in the Navy - or soon joining the Navy - I will be putting together a slideshow of pictures of our sailors. If you’d like to have your sailor included, please attach your favorite digital (“JPG” version) picture of your sailor in uniform in the email. Also include: his/her full name and rank, current location (base or ship name) and ONE sentence describing what s/he is doing. Please make sure you provide parents’ first and last names and town/state so I can list you as “Proud Parents are...”.

I look forward to seeing you there!

Welcome suwil68. Ironically one of my Florida Navy mom friends called me today wanting to meet for a weekend and we discussed doing it in Savannah. Perhaps we can combine the two in the same gathering -- we seem to have a lot of families from the Savannah market joining us. I will see if we cannnot work up a plan soon.
