Hi ladies,

My fiance is currently deployed and we're getting married in June, a while after they return. He never got a chance to move out to base before deploying, because he was flown to the ship right after his A school leave, so we're planning on moving as well right after we get married.

Will they give him any travel days that don't count toward leave since he's moving? Last time, he was granted 12 or 14 days of leave and 1 travel day to fly.. It's going to take us 30+ hours to drive, so that's about three days with stops.

I feel like we're never going to be able to get all of this done with the small amount of leave he has. He needs to take a few days of leave when he gets back so we can deal with getting an apartment -I'm flying out there for homecoming- but then he needs at least a week for a few days before the wedding, dealing with packing and everything, and driving out there. (Can he even split the leave up like this?)

Also, will they pay to move HIM, not me but him? I know that since I wasn't on his orders, they won't pay for my move but he never got a chance to bring anything of his out there. If it makes a difference, he's an E3 and it's Bremerton, WA.

Any information on moving, especially that's specific for our weird situation would be a lifesaver, I don't know where to even begin and he hasn't had time to get to Legal on the ship yet to ask.

We drove both of our cars.  We have a Ford Focus, a Honda Civic, two german shepherds (150lbs together) and two kids.  So the dogs rode with Daddy and the kids rode with Mommy.  That is why I liked UPack so much.  It took them 4 days to get our trailer to San Diego, we took 6 days to drive because that's what my husband's travel time was.  And we didn't have to tow or drive a UHaul.  I looked into gas mileage for the uhaul because we were going to sell my car before we left.  We saved literally hundreds of dollars in gas by using UPack, and it was cheaper than renting a uhaul.  I know I keep saying Uhaul, but I called several rental truck companies and I sort of lump them all together under that brand, they are not much different in price than the others I got quotes from.

Towing does eat into the gas!  We have a trailer and it drops our fuel economy in half.

I just wanted to give a warning about Uhaul specifically, I've had friends stranded in the middle of nowhere because of them.
