While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

And bootcamp begins...
Hello, I just dropped my husband off in Chicago for boot camp. We are newly weds, but at 27 we have been together for 11 years. I know I am going to miss him terribly, I do already! He is going to Biloxi Miss. for A school when he gets out and we've gotten some conflicting information about when/if I can go with him. I was wondering if anyone had any info on married couple living together during A school. Or if anyone has been in or is heading to Mississippi. Thanks so much!

My boyfriend will be going to A school in Mississippi in about a month! His recruiter told him that if I wanted to get a place down there I could, (Im from Washington) and he could come stay with me pretty much whenever he wanted as long as he was back the next morning for class! So i dont think that you can "live" together, but you can for sure get a place down there so you can be closer to him and have him visit you and stay the night! :]

How long will your husband be in school? Have you ever been to Mississippi? I'm from Wisconsin and I've traveled alot but only lived here. I am really excited about Biloxi, and about being so close to New Orleans! Are you considering moving down there? I'd be really happy to hear how things are going!

He will be in Mississippi for about 4 months! He will be in Gulfport. I have never been there before but I would love to move down there to be closer to him! The only thing I'm worried about is since I will only be able to afford a cheap apartment, I would need to find a place that doesn't have a long lease.. I wouldn't want to be stuck there longer, while he get his duties and is stationed somewhere I am unable to go because of the lease I would have. I still have a little longer than a month to figure it out though! :] He has been in boot camp for a little longer then 3 weeks now and I miss him like crazy!! We have only been together for 2 years, but its super hard going from seeing each other everyday for that long, to nothing but a letter a week and maybe a phone call! I just cant wait for graduation! :]

Be careful ladies, recruiters are not always truthful. In order for the Navy to pay for your move, your sailor's orders have to be 6 months at least. Now I can't say for sure in Miss, but here in Great Lakes, if they are not considered "live ashore", they do not get overnight privileges during the week. They have to be back at the base for curfew. They can generally get permission to stay overnight on the weekends if they don't have duty. And they will not be granted live ashore unless they meet the 6 month requirement. Also, it can be very difficult to find a place that will give you a short term lease. I have known women who chose to move anyways and it ended up being very bad financially. Just make sure you really consider your options. Good luck!

The other detail is that is you do move yourself to the A school location, and IF you must leave furniture behind in storage.... when the time comes, the Navy won't move that furniture from the old location, and your things from the new location. Just one place to one place (although they'll put things IN storage in some limited circumstances). I've seen at least one poor gal on here shelled out big bucks for a private move of stuff, and another just kissed a house full of furniture goodbye. Neither has been on for quite a while so I don't know how it all worked out in the long run.
