While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

April 7th
(April 7th is my due date (Our 3yr 4month lol), would he still be granted leave even if I hadn't decided I want to get married right then?)
So today is our 2 year and 10 month anniversary....and I'm also officially 14 weeks today.... I've known Danny since we were in elementary school, even if he was a little older. He was kind of nerdy and I used to terrorize him lol..He proposed 07/07/12.. I can't wait to spend the rest of my life with him. Our love came softly, nothing was rushed or forced.
What is Holiday Stand down? What would we need to do to get married by then? Is there enough to be married during Holiday stand down?

They have to be married to get paternity leave
Holiday stand down is over Christmas (they don't get it if they are in bootcamp though) If he is in "A" School, he has to talk to the staff and do what is required before he can get married (paper work, classes, etc...)

Like Angie said as long as he has all the required paperwork, classes etc, from his command he will have no problems getting married during stand down.
When is his bootcamp graduation date?
There is plenty of time to get married during stand down. He has to wait til he gets to his A school to see what the exact dates of stand down are but it's 2 weeks long. He probably won't be able to take the full two weeks but he'll have enough time to get married. I got married during stand down and we had enough time to get our marriage license, get married, and go to the courthouse to file it.
As far as the Navy is concerned he will have to complete all the necessary paperwork, classes, etc that his command will require of him to get married. There is nothing you can do on that end. What you can do is research marriage laws in your county. There may be waiting periods, like from the time we got our marriage license to the time we could get married there was a waiting period of 3 days. And around the holidays you will want to know theirs the courthouse will be open-- we had to run to the courthouse between our ceremony & reception to file our license so I could record my name change at social security the next day before we left the state to move across the country, because they were going to be closed that Friday for the holiday!

As long as he talks to his chain of command and gets the process started early after arriving at A school it should all go smoothly!

Even if you are married at the time of the birth, there is a chance he can't take leave. It won't count as emergency leave, and the paternity leave for married sailors is as the choice of the command and isn't for the birth. Be prepared for the worst and hope for the best. It is one of those things that no one can tell this early, so just keep breathing!
