OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

BAH?
Pretty straight forward question.. My boyfriend is 24 years old and stationed to a squadron at NAS Oak Harbor on Whidbey Island. Recently we've been entertaining the thought of me possibly moving up there until I have to return for school. At what rate will he be eligible to live off base? At what rate is he eligible for BAH? Can he live off base without recieving BAH? Really I'm looking for any information dealing with living off base!
Just trying to see how realistic this is!! I won't be "making the move" for a couple months still but I like to have everything right in front of me before I make a decision (which is extremely hard to do with the Navy haha)

What paygrade is he? It is E-5 to get BAH as a single sailor, unless the barracks is full. He can live offbase without BAH, but will need to maintain his government quarters. Some bases have stricter policies than others concerning that, for example, if he is in one of the Live Ashore barracks which are like suites and get BAh from the Navy to provide the facilities, he can get in trouble for not staying there.

He is E-2 right now but by the time I'm planning on moving he'll have become E-3. So I guess if we decide to do this it will be out of our own pockets. Which is not a problem. But you think he should be able to live off base as long as he maintains his place in the barracks, right? He said it is very laid back there and doesn't think he'll have a problem. But I don't want to make all of these arrangements and not be able to follow through with them, hopefully that makes sense and thanks for your help!

Hi! How are you? I'm also new to the navy family. We have have a few things in common. My husband is also stationed there in a squadron, but I'm not there. I would love to move up there when he returns from his first deployment.

Hi! I'm good, how are you? How long has your husband been stationed there? My boyfriend just recently moved up there. He's assigned to the Black Ravens Electronic Warfare squadron, it's a mouth-full I know! haha He seems to be enjoying it so far.

Sorry for the late response. my husband has been there since Feb. He deployed in Aug. and assigned to the WIZARDS squadron.

Anti M def covered pretty much everything. I do warn you though to make sure you have a way to get money during deployments if he has to leave!! He can set up an allotment but if he is paying half the rent that will be important to help you out. Military clause only has to let him out of the lease. So they could make you stay if he ended up deploying. But legally if you are over 18 most places can and do require that you are on the lease. Just a heads up and something to think about!
