Hi my mother in law introduced me to this website and said it would be helpful and I hope it is! I have many many questions regarding my husband and him going to Bahrain. When he applied for the orders he was single and he's obviously now married but his orders are unaccompanied. I was wondering what process will we have to go through in order for his orders to be accompanied?

Also any wives on here who have hubbys that are Riverines? My husband is currently in Mississippi for school to become one, but I was wondering what are the missions like? How long are the gone for? Would it even be worth going over to Bahrain? If he kept his orders unaccompanied than he would be there for 1 year, if I went with him it would be for 3. Advice?

If anyone has ever been to visit Bahrain or stationed there please let me know what the living conditions are like and what all there is to do and NOT do.

Thank you!!!!

If he was issued orders as a single sailor, there is very little chance of getting them changed to accompanied now that he is married.  Sorry, the Navy doesn't make that change to orders.

That is why there are so many "marriage before orders are issued" discussions on this site.

One year isn't so bad.  You two can do this.  You won't like it, but you can do it.

My husband has been in 6 years and leaving a carrier to go to the Riverines for shore duty and will be attending school in Gulfport as well. I too am interested to hear what to expect. I've been researching the Riverines and I still don't fully understand what this new set if orders will be like.

http://www.cnic.navy.mil/Bahrain/index.htm  That is the webpage for Bahrain, have him double check to see if his orders are accompanied or unaccompanied as even if you and he where married before he got the orders they can give him unaccompanied orders.

Sorry he can't just change his orders 'cause he got married.  He is going there, with out you.  Once he gets there he can try to get you approved to have you go over there...but sense that would cost the Navy money...I doubt it would be approved.
