For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

He's in bootcamp right? If that's the case there is always a chance that you won't be on his orders even if you marry in Aschool, meaning no paid move to first duty station.

A chit is a request form, pretty generic, it is filled out to specify what the request is. Usually requires several signatures, and no, you'd have nothing to do with it. It is more of a head's up to his command than anything. If his school is using a sign up sheet (weird, but whatever), then that's what he does. Best thing for him to do is ask his SDC or LPO what the current procedure is. When in doubt, ask the chain of command. If someone says to skip a step, verify that is okay (ask the chief).
The chit has nothing to do with housing or your benefits, none of that happens until you are married and he gets you into DEERS/page 2. It is simply a formal notification of his plans to add a dependent so his command can guide him on how, where and when to do what he needs to do to provide for you, how to request to live together during school (if thats the plan), and potentially pre-marital or financial classes. Some commands are lax about the chit, others will hang him out to dry for not following procedure. HE needs to ask the right people. His COC.
You fill out a chit to request leave, special liberty, duty swaps, and a lot more. He will become very familiar with the basic form.

My husband and i got married while he was in a school. It took a week to get everything done. He had to take family planning finance and relationship classes once that was done his chit was approved and we got married and i was on his orders to his 1st duty station which is san diego. U cnt do jousing until he knows where he is going then u can go online an schedule the day to get your stuff picked up and when it will arrive you wont be able to get housing until u physically go to the housing office at least thats how it is for san diego. When u get married he will need your ss card and id to enroll u in deers. Get a power of attorney asap after getting married that will allow u 2 make decisions and sign papers on his behalf

If he stayed in great lakes and you're jus looking for a court marriage i recommend waukegan it avoids going downtown chicago. Its abt 10 mins away from great lakes and u can get your license 1 day and get married the next morning.

That was my plan too. He took the class but didn't get the paper signed for it so he needs to do that. I guess he needs to print his orders and something else still. I wish I was there to help him lol

Yea there's nothing you can rly do to help unfortunately but when he gets his new orders he can make a copy of them and his page 2 and give them to you and you can do all the housing stuff
