My fiance and I have kids together but we aren't married. His recruiter wants him to get a child support order instead of us get married before he signs the papers because it could prolong his entry? I don't instead it. Why should we establish a child support agreement if we intend on getting married? :/ the recruiter suggest getting married after he joins.... blah.

I think what the recruiter means is it'd be more work for him, the recruiter. We had our wedding planned for February 1st and my husband had a ship date of March 6th. I talked to his recruiter in December and he sati please get married ASAP so he could make sure all the paper work was in in time. We ended up getting legally married December 19th and had no problems. We have a son that isn't my husband biological son and even that didn't pose a problem because I had copies of all the necessary paperwork. I think the easiest thing for you guys would be to get married before he leaves. Child support paperwork is soooo annoying and time consuming. Plus it'd be a hassle to fix it with the military once you are married.
Sorry for the typos I'm on my phone lol Just wanted to add we got legally married the 19th of December but still had our wedding as planned on February 1st. No one knew of our court wedding except our close relatives.
He thinks it will be quicker to do the child support and marry later. I keep trying to convince him otherwise. It's not working. :/

Someone may correct me on this but I think the recruiters say that because they don't want to have to do more paperwork but if you are going to get married anyway I would say do it before especially since he hasn't signed the papers yet. We wish we would have and I know we even had a pretty easy time getting married in A-school compared to a lot of people. Anti M is usually a wealth of knowledge in this department so she would be a good one to contact but if I had to do it over again I would have gotten married before he left for boot camp.

Thanks for the information. I keep telling him we should do it before he signs. He doesn't seem to listen. He thinks child support is the quickest way and so he can attend boot camp sooner.

One thing you have to think about is being on his orders after boot camp. Depending on how long his A-school is you might not have enough time to get married before he gets his orders which means the Navy will most likely not pay for your move because he was listed as unaccompanied. And getting married in A-school can be super easy or really hard but it totally depends on where he is attending A-school and who his chain of command is, you just never know. So if you are planning on moving with him after A-school to his first duty station that is one thing to think about. Our recruiter told us if we got married we would be in big trouble but knowing what we know now we regret not doing it before he left.

He is going into the nuke program so he will be in school for a while.... everything just seems so complicated. He will only do what his recruiter days to do. I don't know what to say or show him to convince him otherwise.

I'll echo everyone else and say that getting married sooner rather than later will be so much easier on you guys.  My fiancee graduated boot camp 06/27 and he is in A school now at Great Lakes.  He has filled out all the paperwork for us to have permission to get married and we are just waiting for approval.  We would have gotten married before he left but my divorce wasn't final yet.

I don't mind waiting until after he signs, but I want to do it before he leaves for boot camp so I can already be on his papers and his first assignment...
