Choose your Username.  For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either).  Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username.  While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups!  Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself!  Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility. 

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.  

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed.  Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Hello!

My husband is currently in basic, graduates on July 12th and I am due with our first child any day now. I know he cannot leave basic to be here with me during the birth, but I've heard that after basic training they can take up to 10 days of 'daddy leave' (not counted towards his 30 days of leave). Is this true? Would he be able to take it during A-school?

Best case scenario would be that his A-school doesn't begin right away and has some time on hold and could possibly use the 10 days to be with me and our daughter. I know I probably wont get a direct answer until the time comes, but does this sound right to anyone?

I just don't want to get my hopes up thinking he will be able to spend a little bit of bonding time with his daughter and in reality he wont be able to until we fly down there to visit... (haven't decided if we are moving to Pcola since it is for 5 months and may not be able to afford the move on our own).

Any knowledge on this would be SUPER appreciated!!!!

Hey I just recently had our first kid in jan while my husband was in a school once I delivered I called Red Cross and he was on a flight later that day with 10 days of "daddy leave" it should be the same for you two ! Red Cross can't alert them that you're in labor but can after! And that's when they'll call his school and help him leave to come

Was this when your husband was in A-school? I have the same problem! My son is due a few weeks after he arrives to A-school and I'm wondering if he can come after he's here for the same "daddy time" Is that possible? What do I to try and make this happen??

You can't do a thing, except let him know paternity leave is an option, and that he should ask about requesting it when he checks into the command.   The school command might choose to approve it.   However, it is not for the birth of the baby, so if you haven't delivered, chances are they won't say yes.  After, they might.  All he can do is put in a chit and see how it goes.  

A lot depends on the A school, and whether he's begun classes or not.  They all vary so much on policy as it is up to the CO.  Some will, some won't.  Heck, even the same school will one year, get a new CO, and not grant the leave anymore.

Stay positive, and hope for the best.  Congrats.
