Ok, I'm new to this whole thing. So far, my fiance has been in bootcamp since May 14th. It's so challenging especially because I still haven't gotten his form letter with all the info. We were scrambling to get married a couple weeks before he left because of logistical purposes so that I could more easily live with him or near him when he's out of bootcamp. We didn't marry, we decided to wait and I recently met a a navy couple who said that we should have. But the reality is that we didn't. Has anybody married during A school? Is that even possible? Any words of advice and encouragement are greatly appreciated.

My husband and i married while in A school ! we wanted to before he left for boot camp but his recruiter told us we couldnt and all this other stuff which we found out to be untrue so when he came home for his christmas leave we drove to virginia and got married all in one day and then went to the base there after and got everything set up if you wanna private message me i can help you out with any questions !

thanks lady, I will message you!

 okay !

My husband I got married while he was in A school. As CourtNavyWife has said my husbands recruiter told us that we couldn't due to the paperwork not having enough time to process and that he would be discharged, which wasn't true. We ended up getting married in Virginia when i went to visit him, and then i went to the base close to my house (which is in Texas) to get my DOD card and insurance set up. If you have any questions about anything feel free to message me!

thanks so much Courtney!

My husband & I got married during A school as well. Definitely possible although it will not be as easy. He has to get permission, may have to go through classes beforehand, and you will more than likely have to travel to him unless he is able to request leave (like if he is on hold before his classes start). Also you might have to deal with rushing to the courthouse, maybe not making it on time if he doesn't get released for the day while the courthouse is still open, etc. It can definitely be done, couple get married during A school all the time. The best way to do it is to make sure you research the county laws in which you will be getting married (ex some states require you to have a waiting period between getting the marriage license & actually being able to get married). Make sure that he communicates your plans to get married with his chain of command as soon as he arrives and gets settled in so he can be given the correct information and steps that he needs to take.

to add to this., he can get a special request chit to request to leave class early or to have special off base liberty (like over night). In most places I've look they usually waive the waiting period because they are active duty military.

thank you aboun18! I will get him to get on it as soon as he's in A school!
