Ok we finally did it. It wasn't easy but after a lot of hard work it was done. Here is how my wedding went and if anyone has some questions or input I will help the best I can.

My husband is in San Antonio Lackland AFB and was told he didnt need to fill out any paper work. Find out later he was told wrong but thankfully he didnt get in trouble since the false info came from a chief.

since he is in A school he wasnt allowed to miss class to go to the courthouse to get the license so we filled out an affidavit form and i went on my own to get the license. There was only one person on the enite base that was able to do the notary signature we needed and he was hard to find.

On thursday when I got down there we went to the library made a copy of his military ID and filled out the affidavit form. Friday on lunch my sailor attmepted to get the notary signature but failed since he was out for the day. Because of this i was not able to get the license and could not get married on saturday at the river walk like we had planned. The courthouse is closed on weekends so we had to wait till monday to try again. On lunch my sailor was able to get the notary signature to complete our affidavit form so I went to the base and got the form and headed to the courthouse.

The courthouse was the easy part. just signed a few things got my marriage license and was on my way. We had to cancel our appoint for that saturday and moved it to monday. We were unable to get to the river walk due to limited time so we got married outside the hotel I was staying at.

Not the most romantic thing but we did what we had to. We decided there was no point in getting dressed up so just got married in jeans. The wedding took maybe 3 minutes which was okay with us. He got special aproval to go off base without a battle buddy so we didnt get to have a nice dinner or anything after the wedding we just went back to base.

We spent our evening together on base till muster then we went our seperate ways. My plane left tuesday afternoon so I didnt get to see him at all that day and wont see him again till april 11th for his graduation. Its not a picture perfect wedding but we are both happy with it and are glad to finally be married.

Now comes to the part I dont know yet. How do I get my military ID and on his benefits. What all do we have to do now that we are married in the military life?

Any help on the next steps would be very helpful and if anyone has any questions about how to get married in A school I will answer them the best I can :)

Hey, we got married in jeans and it has been 26 years now. Maybe it will be lucky for you too!

Now he has to add you to his page two and enroll you in DEERS.  He needs all your info for that, the marriage certificate, and copies of your license, SSN, and possibly birth certificate.  That sets you up with Tricare.  He then sends you a form (or it will be available online), which you can take to any military facility to get the ID.  They will also want to see the marriage certificate, ID, SSn and so on.

I hope you got at least two certified copies of your marriage certificate, you'll need them.

yes we have the original and two copies should i send both copies with him or will he only need the one?

He will only need one.  You'll need the other.

My fiance is in bootcamp as we speak and I too have been trying to figure out when we can get married.( We were ready to get married before bootcamp but recruiter said we could not :( ). He is going to be a AG and his A school will be in Biloxi, Miss.  If anyone has any pointers or helpful info. on getting married while he is in A school I would really appreciate it.
