I just got my first phone call from my boyfriend today!! I didn't expect it at all it was the greatest surprise ever! We got to talk for 25 minutes and 37 seconds which I thought was pretty long compared to others I have seen. I'm so happy right now I cannot stop smiling!!!! :) The only problem is, he is miserable. He said he has been sick the whole time and is obviously sore and covered in blisters and doesn't look like himself. I don't know what to say to him about all of that because it just makes me sad. I obviously want my man to be happy and comfortable and healthy and well he isn't. Hopefully it will all get better. I'm just stoked that we were able to communicate with each other verbally. I could ask him a question and actually get a response immediately rather than waiting a week for a letter to answer it lol. And the best part is that I got to tell him I love him 4 times :) Also I know it made him really happy to be able to talk to me too. It is exactly what I needed. I hope all the rest of you girls who are waiting to hear from your love get to soon and get as much time as I did if not longer. No matter how long you get it is totally worth it just to hear their voice.  And in a little over a month I'll get to see him again, that will be the best day ever :)

Very True, the best call is the first call, lets ua know their ok. My hubby was like your boyfriend, he was sick and had blisters , it was hard for the first 2 months and then his body got use to the environment. Hope he gets better and I'm happy that you finally got your phone call :)..YAY

You are so lucky! When my sailor called for the first time I was in class so I didn't hear it ringing! I'm so glad to hear that you are so excited to have heard from your man so soon! When my boyfriend called it was a surprise too, and it was nice that he left a voicemail. The time after you get that first letter will FLY by. Take my word for it! A month and a half ago it seemed like forever ago, but now there are only 7 days left! I'm sure he'll feel a lot better soon, it's probably a matter of getting used to his surroundings. I'm so happy for you, girl! : D

Thank you both so much!!! :) It really means a lot that there are so many other girlfriends and wives who are here supporting me and my boyfriend just like I am supporting everyone else. It is kind of like we are all a family here which is really nice. I hope you get another phone call that you can actually hear this time lol.

SO SO SO SO HAPPY FOR YOU!!!! I just got my first letter on Wednesday and it was the best thing I could have ever hoped for. It makes me so happy to hear him say that I'm the only thing that's getting him through this and how much he loves me (he has NEVER been one to share his feelings - I have had to BEG him to write small notes in my cards before!)

I can't wait for my first call!!! His PIR is 06Jan, so I'm hoping the "I'm fine" call will be sometime soon. Maybe? Lol.

Best wishes to you all!!
