For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

He Left Two Weeks Ago!
Hello, my boyfriend of three years left for basic two weeks ago, i've heard nothing from. No letters and no calls since he got there. I've found myself oddly obsessed with anything Navy and have done lots of research trying to figure out when i'll be able to have some sort of communication. I'm just dying for information, need a little advice from ladies that have been through his before, and have millions of questions! Really anything would help.

If he's in BC, I would not send him anything other than a letter, he'll get in trouble (heard one guy got brownies from his gf & the chief made him eat it all really fast in front of his whole div plus push-ups!). My suggestion would be to send him a nice 'happy birthday' love letter & let him know you guys will celebrate the next time you see him. :-)

Also, if letters are thick, they have to open them in front of the chief. He doesn't read the letters, he just wants to make sure there's nothing 'inappropriate' like nude pics.

I'm in the same boat (yay puns!) but on the other side of boot camp. My sailor just graduated last Friday. I have done a TON of research on anything and everything Navy, just like you. We actually "celebrated our 3 year anniversary while he was in boot camp. I send him a nice card and wrote a love letter (who am I kidding they were all love letters lol). He also wrote a lot too for it. Far as he told me there was no issue with getting a card, just do not send a singing card lol, heard of SRs having to sing the song in the card for quite a while for those. First letters we got were actually about three weeks after he had left, though he was writing from week one. The best advice I can give is be patient and find things to keep you busy. I kept a countdown on my phone too! It won't seem like it does, but once you're waiting on Battle Stations the time seems to fly. His was one of the divisions in the first group to do them and from the day he completed it we got calls home every day but one (which was nice because they got no calls between that and the "I'm here"). The first letter I got I was jumping for joy and crying lol. So chin up, and if you ever need anyone to talk to feel free to message or friend me!

What are Battle Stations? I hope i get a call everyday!

Battlestations is like a final exam for boot camp for the entire division. There is a state of the art mock ship, and they hold very real drills on it. The sailors must stay awake for about 24 hours, react to emergency situations as they have been trained, work as a team, leave no one behind. There's a good video of it, but I don't have the link handy.

my boyfriend left about 3 weeks ago and i didn't get his first letter till after 2 weeks. they only let them send letters on sunday but they don't get to the first sunday and don't expect phone calls. I think they only get one which is in the middle. This website has really helped me because it shows you that other people are going through the same thing.
