Hello Everyone!

My name is Tanya, I am 21 years old and Ive been dating my boyfriend for the past 5 years. He has enlisted in the Navy, has went through boot camp and he's currently in A school in Pensacola. Im going through a rough time because he is my best friend and we dont have much time to speak. Sometimes i find myself getting upset and i even feel bi polar bc i miss him so much and i just need to just talk to him sometime..he just got his orders and is going to be stationed in San Diego, Im currently in the process of changing my major in college so Im working at the moment while i figuere out what I want to do, I want to be closer to him but not sure if i should also move to san diego. I turn to this group for support when I'm having my horrible days. I PRAY that you some of you and I can build a good friendship because lord knows i need help during this time. Im so supportive of my sailor, i just need someone to support me some times.

Thank You So Much!

Your guy probably misses you like crazy too! When does he get liberty? Maybe you can see him then and talk things over? :)

It's okay to miss him, write him since you can't talk for long periods of time. San Diego is a new environment for sure but there are plenty of schools to choose from there (I'm from CA) With that said, I would say again to talk to your guy or find out when he gets liberty so you guys can really talk. You would have to travel out to him but I am sure it would be worth it. I guess there is no simple answers except you two need to have a serious conversation. I hope I helped a little ***virtual hug*** Good luck girlie

Shai

Yes it did!

thank god someone replied to me. It gets so lonley at times but your right, writing to him is a great idea. he has classes untill 2am, night classes so when he gets back to his dorm, im already asleep, And when im up hes asleep. its rough, but yes a serious talk is needed.

Thankss Girl!!!

<3 Much Love.

Hi Tanya, I'm Alejandra :-) My bf just left for bc last week, so you're guys are a little ahead in your journey. I understand how difficult a long distance relationship can be, my bf and I have been in one since before he joined the Navy. Like your bf is to you, my bf is my best friend as well. We're currently in the process of trying to get married so I can be with him wherever he is stationed. I definitely agree that sometimes we need a little support ourselves :-)
Hey girl!

And yes I've been dating my sailor now for about 5 years even before he started bc last August. Bc is the most difficult only bc communication is limited to letters but you'll be fine, I carry my letters everywhere that I go. Once he hits A School it will be a lot easier. May I ask how old are you are Alejandra? I've also though about marriage but I'm just 21 so I'm not sure you know but in navy life being married makes everything so much easier.

But yes this is the support I need.
<3 we all need.

Alejandra, I just wanted to say good luck on the start of your new road. Bootcamp is by far the hardest part and it will get way easier. Graduation is the most exciting thing and if you ever have any questions feel free to ask them. My sailor was in Great lakes and just graduated last month.

Same here, My sailor also graduated from Great Lakes, and lack of communication was by far the hardest. But like Jonie said we're all here for you!

I understand missing your best friend and wanting to tell him all the ups and downs of your week. My bf is currently in boot camp and his PIR is in March. Like Shahida said I think you and boyfriend have to talk and figure out exactly what you guys would like to do. Are you close to finishing school? I am 22 and a recent college grad and my boyfriend played big part of me accomplishing my goal. I am sure your boyfriend wants to support you in accomplishing your goals just as you are supporting him. Hope this helped.

Tam

Hey Tam,

Thanks for responding. It means a lot, and I'm currently trying to switch my major to something that I feel would be a good career for me. I went through 3 years of college doing graphic design and realized that its not something I'd want to do for the rest of my life. So I'm trying to decide what to major in now and then find a school which I could possibly do in San Diego, but unlike wives, girlfriends don't have any benefits so I'd have to find a job out there first. And an apartment and start to think about that whole process

You're welcome! And that is very true about picking a major. Although right now I do not work in my field, I loved my major. Yes we do not receive any benefits, so having a plan is the best route to go.

I agree, must have a plan! What did you major in?

Communications with a concentration in Public Relations but I currently work for the Federal gov't and do nothing related to communications.

tanya, my name is Jonie and i have the same feeling about bi polar. one minute i am so happy and the next i just miss him so much. My fiance is down in san Antonio at a school. I am going to see him next weekend and we are getting married. I am only 18 so I think if you are both ready for the journey together age won’t be a factor. I am glad to know someone else carries their letters with them because my sailor laughed at me when I told him that :). It is definitely a bumpy road with lots of hard decisions but i wouldn’t trade my life for anything. the one thing that has really helped me is god and love. i am always putting on this front for my sailor and being strong for him but behind my smile is a broken heart. i could never tell him how hard this process has been for me cause that only makes him more upset. i just wake up every morning give him some more encouragement and support him the best i can. i am glad to know others are feeling the same way and i feel together we can all get through this hard time. in the end it is all worth the wait.

stay strong everyone

<3 Jonie
