Hello all! Honestly I am so glad to have found a site where I can ask questions and find out answers from very strong and courageous women all around the world. Hopefully someone can help me prepare for what is about to happen to my relationship with my boyfriend.

Right now, John will be shipping out in early October so I have plenty of time with him before he is away. With my personality however, I am always thinking about the future. I wanted to know from girlfriends and even finances what advice you would give for us with the time we have together. What are ways to just enjoy each others company and not worry about the future? Also, I am very worried about what I will be doing while he is away. I am a full time student in college but I spend most of my free time with John. What can I do when he leaves to better myself? I'm a supper creative person that loves to be involved in school and to travel but I feel like John is missing out if I do fun and exciting things without him. So how can I still live my life even with feelings of guilt and sadness from his absence?

Obviously I am very new to this process but I am completely supportive of John and his choice to serve our country. I apologize for all of the questions, but I feel as a girlfriend that these are very relevant questions so I would GREATLY appreciate any advice that answers these questions I have.

Thanks to everyone who helps me with this!! :)

I know it may seem like the end of the world right now, but it gets better. For me the first two days were horrible then after that I got better. Write a letter every single day if you can. You'd be surprised how much time writing a letter and addressing envelopes can take! If you are able to go to his graduation, start planning!!! Find a nice dress or a nice gift. I was always keeping myself busy with plans for his PIR. My boyfriend and I focused on making it through bootcamp. Yes the future is fun to talk about, it's mysterious and exciting! But we just lived each day like he was shopping tomorrow. Spend as much time together as possible, and find a nice balance between talking about bootcamp so you get rid of your fears an concerns and not thinking about it at all so you can live in the moment. Educate yourself as much as possible on what he is doing and what he will be going through, he will appreciate it more than you think! I'm flying out to my boyfriends PIR today, he graduates tomorrow. Let me know if you have other questions!
