So...after what was supposed to be an 8 month deployment that turned into a 9 month deployment 2 weeks before they were supposed to come home, I FINALLY got my sailor back.
Check out my luck though.
My boyfriend got the Christmas leave. I was so happy he was gonna be home for Christmas. But because of the deployment extension, they only got about a week as opposed to a much longer leave. He came home on Dec 21 and was set to leave on Dec. 28th. I left on Dec. 21 for a cruise my dad bought my sister and I for Christmas and didn't get home until about 6 on Dec. 27th. IRONIC, RIGHT?! haha Which means, yep, I got exactly 1 day with him after a 9 month deployment. While it was one of the most amazing nights of my whole life and I was so happy just to be with him, when he left the next day, I've felt awful. I can't eat, I have no interest in anything, I start crying randomly...I think I might be depressed. Well, maybe not LOL...I don't ever get depressed...but holy cow am I sad. I haven't even gotten to talk to him since he left and that's definitely not helping.
Anyway, can someone give me information on what happens after a deployment/leave? I know before he deployed we could text a lot and he would call me occasionally if he was off, but are things just incredibly busy directly after a deployment and I should expect not to hear from him as often for a while?
Also, he said he's starting a new school. I don't quite remember what the school is, I was trying to listen but all I could do was think about him leaving again haha. He explained the school to me and said it's incredibly difficult and that he'll get his ass kicked by SEALS. That's all I remember LOL
He said he may be approved for an extended leave, like longer then a week, after the school ends which is only about a month. That would be the greatest thing ever.
Anyway, I just need some encouragement. I need to break out of this funk. He was gone for 9 months halfway around the world and I survived, you'd think being only a few states away for a month would be nothing. LOL

Hey there! congrats on surviving a deployment!!! I know how much those extensions suck! We had a 5 month one turn into an 8 month one at the old halfway mark talk about a let down!
I dont really know what school that would be lol. There are quite a few that deal with SEAL type training. I just dont know them all. I know an EOD is trying to convince my husband to do that training and said its with some SEALs and stuff. I dont know about leave after schools I guess it would be more of a command decision than anything so hopefully they do that for him :) He should have enough leave saved up anyways lol. My husband got three weeks after his deployment and still had more time left over from all the leave he had saved up!
So I am sort of that blunt friend that kicks your butt.. so my advice.. get up and shake it off. lol But really instead of focusing on the negative aspects of it focus on the positive, he is home, and not that far away. You got a lot to look forward to with him being closer and not on deployment. Focus on that instead of anything that might be upsetting. Even if you missed most of his leave think instead about the awesome opportunity you had to go on a great cruise with your sister. I have a really close friend that has been on a family vacation to Hawaii the last week and she has spent the entire trip texting me and messaging me complaining about her family and having to be around them. and I for the first time in my life spent the holidays with all my family halfway across the country. Not saying you are acting like that just saying remember to focus on the good things :) that will help you out a bit!
I agree with Meagan, try to focus on the positive aspects of all of it, that can really help. What rate is he? Our son is an IS, working as support to SEALS and he's in the middle of a bunch of additional training now, too.
