I know, I was like "my baby doesn't swear!" I guess when he comes back that will tone down because he is "Navy Boot camp mode" so he can't really know how certain will kind of bug me if he can't sense it for himself.
I don't know for me I just don't like it being done in front of me at all, growing up my father had quite a sailor's mouth. It always reflected negativity to me so I don't condone it what so ever.
I feel the same way somethings :( I've even asked him in a few of my letters and told him that I am so worried that boot camp might change him TOO much. With his letters I've also noticed little changes like his handwriting (he only writes in caps now) and little bit in the way he's talking, he sounds so "proper" now. I know its not big things but its just little things that I've noticed. He keeps assuring me that he's still my same hubby so I hope that true.
That is so sad that they strip them from their identity, that's the part that scares me. If you don't mind me asking do you know what caused your SR to start to objectify women? Did it have anything to do with boot camp and A school?
My husband said he saw a lot of that at A School. Even from the instructors. My hubby is a little older (27), so he's pretty set in who he is and is pretty much exactly the same as he was before boot camp. But one of his instructors was going on and on about how many women he's screwed, while they were all in class and there were female Sailors in the class, too. My husband asked him a question to change the subject but said if if the instructor went back to it he was planning on giving him a piece of his mind. Which may or may not have gotten him in trouble, but the way he was talking has no place in a professional setting. Also, another instructor told the class that if you're married, your wife is probably banging someone else by now. Pretty crappy way to welcome people into a new life/career. It seems to be mostly at A School. Since we've been to his first duty station, he said no one is like that. Maybe it's his command, maybe it's that the other sailors are mostly older.
Anyway, love each other, be there for him and be strong for him and YOU. You'll get through it !! Now I look back at how upset I was when he was gone and wonder why I got all worked up. I was worried he'd change, he wouldn't love me, he'd find new friends that he could relate to better, etc, etc. He is EXACTLY the same. For better or worse, : ) Don't let your fears change YOU, either.
I don't think anyone can change my fiance, he is pretty much an old "soul". But he has mentioned in his letters some of the horror stories about girlfriends sending their SR's "Dear John Letters..." or trying to take all their money.
The women really try to do that? That's pretty bad, you'd think women would have more respect for other women.
whoah, I never realized that.. Guess his recruiter never mentioned it to us.
My Fiance told me in his second to last letter that one of the girls was coming unto him. I got a chuckle when he told me the next thing out of his mouth was how wonderful his girl back home was and began showing her pictures. I trust my fiance but that didnt stop me from demanding her full name so i could find her. :)
