OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Is it true that if you get married your orders might get cancelled ?
My boyfriend is about to get deployed overseas in June for a year. We were thinking about getting married but some co-workers told him that his orders might get cancelled if he gets married. Is it true? I have been looking for answers all over the internet and could not find anything..
I am not able to go with him so family orders (accompanied) are not an option for us.

No, this is NOT true. I think they are confusing / combining some policies, which is where the confusion is coming from, so hopefully this will help clear it up a bit.
A Sailor has to be an E-4 or above to be authorized to take dependents with them on overseas orders (where they have done a permanent change of station, or pcs). Dependents are never authorized to accompany a Sailor on a deployment (where they are based out of somewhere else but ship out, whether on a ship, sub, squadron, or a ground unit of some sort, but will then, after the deployment is done, return to their base that they are PCSed to).
Being married or not doesn't ever have any sort of impact on whether or not they are deployed.
If a Sailor is E-3 or below and is married BEFORE he gets PCS orders, they will try - stress try, because needs of the Navy will always come first, but they will try to not PCS them overseas.
If a Sailor gets married AFTER they have their orders (and "planning to get married doesn't "count" to the Navy), the Navy will NOT change their PCS orders, they will be sent to their duty station and their family will have to stay in the States. Once the Sailor makes E-4, then, if he/she wants, and if they have enough time left at that command, they can request permission to move their family with them, they could approve or deny it. That's a lot of "ifs" so I wouldn't count on that.
I hope this helps explain the policies with all of this.
