He might get San Diego, he might not.  SD is a big base, so that's not impossible, even likely.  However, no way to tell this early.
FYI...they are only allowed to go 5 days in the hole!  So if they only have 2 days leave, they can only take 7 days leave.
So does that mean once he's done with a school he can come back home for only 7 days

That depends on his orders to his next command how long he will be able to go home for leave.  Also about the going in the hole...that is a command policy and where he is going to.  Just wait to see what his orders say.

My post was a response to the one above it about the holiday stand down leave

Seven days leave is very normal for after A school.   While they earn 30 days a year, hardy anyone ever gets to take the 30 all at once.
I now how the felling is. My bf graduated next week Friday on the 4th. Sad he is missing my B-day today though. I got my first letter the third week of him being in but you may get on the second week I have heard. I got one every week sense then. It goes by fast when you keep busy. Did you give him your address? You can write him at any time and he will love it. Ask his parents a little after a week they should have his address he just may not get to write back for 2-3 weeks. I have got a few phone calls as well. One was the 4th week and the next the 6th week. Look for the area code 847 it will be likely your sailor so keep a look out for it. When he graduates boot camp he can't come back home he has to stay there and it might be the next day or a few days after he will be on a plane to were his A school is. If you have any other questions you can ask me. I just joined in the navy as well this Tuesday. I will answer the best of my ability. Wish you guys luck. You will make it threw.
