I'm soon to be married in January, and my sailor is coming home from deployment in December. He's based in Oceana, and we are going to be getting an apartment off base ASAP in December, and I'm wondering if anybody knows of or  lives near there and could tell me about a good BAH apartment that allows dogs and has a safe community. Any help would be great! I'm young and been planning alot by myself these past 5 months, but I have no idea about where a good apartment might be, and I wanted some advice from those who live, or have lived there.

Thanks! -Em

If you have a facebook there is a group called Navy Wives of Virginia Beach and Hampton Roads it is closed but you can ask to join and they will let you in and the ladies there have TONS of information and are very helpful! :)

I ask them stuff all the time we are moving to Newport News area next Feb :)

thanks so much!
you are welcome! :) sorry I couldnt be of more help but I am avoiding that area bc its too far of a drive for us lol :)
I dont live up there, but my boyfriend is based in The bigger Naval Base there. I cant tell you exactly where there is housing, but there is alot. Try looking up on the internet, im sure you will find something.
Hey! I'm in the exact same boat as you (no pun intended haha). I'm moving in January as well and I've been looking like crazy for apartments. I do know you have to be careful where you decide to live because the traffic is awful in the morning on the way to the base, I've been stuck in it myself and it's pretty much a standstill. I found some nice ones in Hampton. I'm really interested in The Township at Hampton Woods. The riverhouse apartments, alexander at ghent in norfolk are nice too but are a bit pricey, at least for our budget. If you find an apartment you like, try to do a google search for apartment reviews and see what others may have to say about it as far as it being safe. There are some rough spots in the area in general. You can also try craigslist, haha. Good luck!
