You can get on base without needing an escort (which is a huge help for homecoming and underway returns), you can use the free gym, you can shop at the NEX, you can shop at the Commissary/Package store. Oh, and it serves as your insurance card for TriCare. So you knida need it.

Ooh, i see. Got it! Thanks for your response! Appreciate it! :)

You can also get a military discount at some businesses:  Lowe's, Home Depot, Hot Topic, Spencer's, Texas Roadhouse... there's more, but those are the ones i know off the top of my head.

The base also has MWR, which is the morale and recreation office. You can get great travel deals and discounted tickets for events, theme parks, and even movies.

Thanks for your response Anti M! Do you know if I need to wait for some paperwork before I can apply for one? My husband said he enrolled me in DEERS but I have not received any confirmation letter yet.

Yes, you must wait for him to send you a signed form 1172.

Oh, thanks Anti M! :)

When you get it, you'll need to find the nearest military facility using RAPIDS locator, make an appointment with the ID office, take your driver's license, SSN, and birth certificate.  If you do not have your BC, order it NOW.
