Yesterday my boyfriend called while I was busy at work with a client. I wouldn't have been so upset if I didn't see that someone was calling and then silenced it out of pure instinct. A minute later I realized I made a huge mistake, and then his voicemail came through and when I heard his voice my heart broke. My stomach was in knots, and I couldn't even think clearly anymore! UGH... I know many of you have missed the phone call before, and understand exactly how I'm feeling. I told my sister and mom, and of course they tried to comfort the best they could- but again, it's the whole "you don't understand" feeling. I'm still pretty upset, especially because he sounded incredibly disappointed in his voicemail. I actually told my mom that I had never heard him that way before. He sounds excited to be at boot camp in his letters, which leaves me to believe he was just having a bad day- and I wasn't able to cheer him up because I SILENCED the call. It just breaks my heart that he only got ONE 3 minute phone call and it was wasted. I know that it's a hit or miss with phone calls, but I really hope he gets to call again. I know everyone's calls will come in at different times and days, but does anyone have an idea of the "average" time and day that they will get phone calls? I just don't want to feel like that ever again... and help or advice would be greatly appreciated!

The "phone call" was not my friend while my bf was in BC... But don't worry, he will get MORE phone calls. At least he has the right number, for some reason something went wrong with mine and every time my bf tried to call he had been calling some guy named Frank.. haha! Finally we sorted things out, I re-sent my number and was able to recieve a call. It wasnt until his last week there so I had lost hope that I was ever going to hear from him. But don't worry, he will call again!
Hey I know exactly how you feel my dear! I unfortunately missed my fiance's first call to say he arrived. Through letters he had told me that his calling card on the night he got there wasn't working correctly, so he couldn't call - luckily around 6 days letter his officer allowed a few of them to hit the NEX store and make a 5 min call - he bought a calling card, called me 3 times...and to no avail I didn't answer. I wasn't expecting it! Like a fool I had my phone on silent in the other room. They say you usually get 3 calls...the I've arrived, the I'm still alive one...and the I'm a sailor call. I know how disappointed you were, trust ME! My mom couldn't really console me either. I ran crying to her house, because in his voicemail he sounded very mad and upset - it made me feel like death. Don't worry, it happens though. I'm half way through boot camp now - and thank the lord I answered his 2nd call on the 3rd week! I learned my lesson the first time. You'll see him again....and you will talk! Accidents happen and I'm sure he understood....just tell him in your letters! When does your bf graduate btw?
It's been a few days and I'm FINALLY not feeling so horrible about it. I've been waiting for mail again though. (haha...) back to square one! I'm going to do my best to keep my phone on me for that last call though! That one is very important!! :)
Oh my gosh, you poor thing! Trust me you are not alone! I missed my boyfriend's phone call because of work as well, and even worse, I could not understand his voice mail at all, because the connection was so bad. I ended up crying the whole way home from work...
As disappointing as he sounded and as sad as you are, at least you have his voice recorded on your phone and can listen to it every night :)
