For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Please note! Changes to this guide happened in October 2017. Tickets are now issued for all guests, and all guests must have a ticket to enter base. A separate parking pass is no longer needed to drive on to base for parking.

Money during RTC
I just got a letter from my husband saying he needed money and to make sure there is atleast a thousand dollars in the checking account. Does anyone know why he would need that chunk of money while in RTC? He didn't leave any other information.

That makes no sense at all. They do have to pay for some things, but it comes out of their base pay. That's why the first paycheck is small. They have no access to their accounts, or any opportunity to spend a dime. They can order and pay for PIR pictures, a cruise book and DVD, but that is all.
Maybe he knows his check will be small and you'll need money for bills and rent? I can't think of any other reason at all.

weird thing is that his check wasn't small at all.. and all the bills are paid. I just don't know what he means and he didn't specify. Thought maybe some other wife had run into this issue. But looks like mine has just lost his mind! haha

There is no reason for him to need that knd of money while in bootcamp..everything he needs while there (if he has to pay for it) is taken out of his check BEFORE it hits the checking account. Also he gets a card (like a gift card) that he uses at the NEX for shampoo, ect...

Sometimes the Navy makes mistakes with the pay. If his paycheck was "regular size" and not small due to the stuff that should have been taken out, then there's a chance that there was a pay screw up, and they didn't take the money out like they should have. Usually when this happens (and the Navy overpays you, or forgets to deduct something), they will take it back out of your pay when they catch it, which might be what he's expecting to happen.
Just in case, if you can, I would try to have the money in the account. If you can't, then write to him and ask him why he needs it...
