Okay, so I just got a letter from my husband who is currenlty in bootcamp. He informed me that his a-school is now going to be 34 weeks instead of 22 weeks. Since it will be over 6 months, the navy should pay for me to more down there right? Does anyone know if there's something I need to do or someone I need to contact? Or do I just wait for him to graduate. We originallly didn't think it would be long enough for the navy to move us down so we didn't really talk about it or ask his recruiter for details.
Any advice is greatly appreciated!

More info is needed...as is his "A" School alone that long or is that all the schools he will be going to?
hmm...not sure he said a-school but didn't specify...would it help if you knew his job...he'll be an ATF/IT and going to school in pensacola
He really needs to talk to his instructor when he gets to Pensacola and see. Btw, my son is in Pensacola, both his room mates are going to IT A school :-)
But, as I was saying, I would suggest that he talk to his instructor / chain of command when he gets down there, because while we all say that that it has to be 6 months, it is actually that you have to have so many days of "butt in the seat, in the classroom" time, which works out to basically be 6 months. So, he could be there for 6 months, or have basically 6 months of school, but be just a few days shy of that "magic number" of instruction days, and have them not authorize the move... (Also, getting rolled back for some reason, or hold times, does not count towards that time.)
But, his chain of command will be able to tell him one way or anther and help him get that ball rolling if you can.
I hope you get good news with it :-)
Hi, Christine-
My husband is currently in (ET) A-school in Great Lakes. The Navy paid to move me here from California last week!
As soon as he's gotten through boot camp , PIR, and is checked in to his new Ship, have him inquire about completing a "Live Ashore Packet." If his A-school is long enough, they'll walk him through it. Odds are, he'll have a week or so of hold time before his classes get started and will be able to get everything approved and submitted right away. Hope that helps!!
