Join groups!  Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself!  Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility. 

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.  

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed.  Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

My husband left last Monday for boot camp at the great lakes. I got the box last Thursday and haven't received anything else. I have been told that with in 7-10 days of him leaving for boot camp that I will receive a letter explaining PIR information, an address to send all of the many letters I have already written him, and a letter from him (maybe). I do have a question, though. Are there any other things that I am allowed to send him besides pictures and letters? I'd really like to send him a king cake (It's mardi gras season at home where we live and that is his favorite type of cake) but I'm pretty sure that's not allowed lol.

& I have a question about after he graduates and has to go to A-school in Pensacola, FL. His schooling there is going to be 6 months and I was wondering if our daughter and I would be able to go live with him during this time. I know no one could really know the specifics, but if anyone has any experience with this, please let me know!!

My husband is currently in A school in pcola and I'm moving down with him next month. It depends on the coding in his orders. But if your husband is in A school for that long (my husband has the same) I can't imagine it would be different for you. He will just have to ask when he gets there most likely, and then fill out the paperwork. He may be able to do it before boot camp is done. I don't know anything about that though because we didn't get married until he was in A school. Hope this helped!

Welcome aboard!   You should receive the form letter soon, with personal letters to follow.  LOL, no king cake!  He'd just get in trouble and not be able to have it anyway.  Maybe you can freeze a portion for later?  

Six months is long enough to be moved to P-cola, but he can't set up much of anything while he is in boot camp.  It is a separate command, so they have no authority with any of the P-cola policies.

Thanks so much! I'm just hoping to be able to be with him after this time apart! For 3 1/2 years we haven't been separated like this except for college lol. I guess I will learn to adapt! I have heard so many "theories" about if it's 6 months or longer you can go with him! It's nice to get some answers I can rely on! lol

Hey welcome Carole.  My husband left last Wednesday to BC and I have been told only letters, no naughty pics because some girl did it and they opened it in front of everyone :(

If you send him newspaper cut outs of current events (which I did) and maybe print pictures onto printing paper it should be fine.  I have wrote my husband every day since he left so I feel you girl :)

Oh yeah! I heard that lol. Well if they think they'll get anything out of the pictures I've put in my letters, they are sadly mistaken lol. They are pictures of me & our daughter on her first day of preschool lol XD

Lol no I'm just saying cause some girl did it and oh my gosh it was not good.  I hope you get the info soon so your hubby can get all your letters.  When is his PIR?  Do you know that yet? Crazy if we are in the same PIR :)

No but I was told he's ship 11 division 151 but until I get the letter I won't get too excited. I'm praying he is cause that means it's a week sooner than I thought.

My husband left for RTC on 3/5, and is going to A-school in Pensacola too. His length of time for A-school varies though depending on whether or not he gets aviation electrician or aviation electrician technician. I was told that as long as A-school is six months or longer, that dependents can go with, but if it's just a day shy of six months, that they can't. I live in Louisiana too, my hubby isn't a huge fan of king cake, but he was upset about not having a huge crawfish boil before he left since they were going for about $4.69/lb where we live. 

My husband left on 3/6! He as a guaranteed C school though so he will be in Pensacola for like 1-2 years, I know its a huge gap but I can't remember the exact length of time!
