Hi, everyone!

My husband is currently in boot camp, he's half way thru it.  woo! hoo!  I am so confused about everything.  Everyone on here appears to be using acronyms in their posts and comments, I have no idea what these acronyms mean..  I have no idea what I'm doing or what I should be preparing myself for.

At this time, I know the date for his boot camp graduation, but I haven't made travel plans yet.  I'm pretty sure my husband will go to "A" school the day after graduation (I'm guessing).

I'm just lost and a bit overwhelmed. I don't know where to start.  I work hard during the day, come home sad, missing my man...can't get motivated to plan ahead in this unknown territory.

Comments & advice appreciated.

Thank you.

you are very welcome. e1 e2 e3 that is rank . rate is his job. I always get the two mixed up lol. if you got your DEERS form you can chose what insurance you want. I personally wanted Tricare prime b/c with prime you don't have to pay anything when you go to the doctor. I don't even have to pay for prescriptions. its really nice. but you have to send in paper work for that. you just have basic right now so you will have to pay some money when you go to the doc.    I stayed at days inn. I wouldn't recommend them bc they were so rude and tried to charge for dirty sheets and towels.. anything to make a buck. the only upside was that they were not too far from the base.

if he goes to school in pcola he may be aviation undesignated. he wont get to choose his job, the navy will stick him where they want him. my husband was at the nas base. the other base there is the correy station. every set of barracks (where they live) has their own rules... there were multiple times when they were suppose to call liberty they were not able to leave. one time I was waiting in the parking lot for 2 + hours for him to be released all b/c someone forgot to put away the "wet floor" signs. lol in their barracks they can get all in trouble from one person being immature, but what really goes against them is their roommate. if their roommate messes up both of them would get sent back to phase one.

lots and lots of info. :) I hope you are getting all the info you need with all these ladies replying to you :)

Thank you again Urabisswife!

My husband just called me to say he won't be able to call me for 3 weeks. The call lasted a whole 2 minutes.  He sounded so depressed.  He said he was in the chiefs office.  Not sure what that means, but he didn't have any privacy to chat. However, he said he's going to A school in Pcola.  I tried to ask him about my travel plans to PIR (haha, I know that acronym now :)) and he told me he will have liberty for 3-4 days, then he said he had to go. I have no idea what to do about my travel plans.  I'm so upset right now.  Do they get that much liberty time?

No, they don't.  Usually the ones going to P-Cola leave the next day.  Sometimes they pick up on what the ones staying at Great Lakes will be doing and get a bit confused.  He'll know more toward the end, when he gets his travel orders.

There's a phone in the office in the ship, not sure why he got a phone call.   They all sound depressed at first, it is a normal phase.

Thanks, Anti M!

he may have been able to call you to clarify his A school orders. his 3-4 liberty days are most likely his travel days... they take a day to fly out there then they get settled into the barracks. there should be no reason for him to stay in IL and have 3-4 liberty days unless there are not enough people flying out to Pcola .....you can always just book your stuff for Saturday sunday and fly out Monday to be safe. you can have an extra day to relax on vacation if so.. better more time than less you know :)

Hello,

My fiance is also halfway through I miss him very much as well. His Pass In Review (graduation date) is July 26th. I have noticed that knowing that I am not alone in this is pretty helpful. I have joined a group where people also have someone who is graduating on the same day. It kind of helps because you can talk to each other. Right now, I am in a state that we both lived in together, but I have no family and not many friends here. So it has kind of been hard for me. Luckily, I am moving back to my hometown soon, where I will get a lot more support. I write my fiance letters everyday. Sometimes about events of the day, sometimes about updated wedding plans. Being positive in the letters helps a lot, not only for them, but for you as well. When I have to write about the bright side of things, it makes me dwell on the good things. I have gotten a couple of calls from him. He has seemed happy both times. I know he misses me, but I am glad to know that he has made some new friends.

If you feel like you need someone to talk to, feel free to inbox me. We are both going through the same thing (specifically the uncertainty of what's to come). But look on the bright side, in your case, you don't have to plan a wedding based off of limited information. It'll all work out.

Thank you, NavyFiance for your support. I may end up inboxing you soon & please - the same goes to you. Please reach out if you need someone to talk too.
