Hi everyone! I am new to this website and new to the navy. My husband is currently in basic and his pir is at the end of march.his rating is an EM, so he will be staying in the great lakes for a school. I was hoping some other wives could tell me about their husband training who are also ems. Did they just have school in the great lakes or did they receive additional training elsewhere. Also how much notice do you get for a permanent duty station , while finishing up a school. Thanks guys I really appreciate your insight!

My fiance just graduated from bootcamp on Feb.1st, he is EM (non nuke) so he is now on Great Lakes for ASchool. He was told that he would have 3 schools and they are all in Great Lakes. Hope this helps a bit.

Thank you that does help! How long does he expect to be in the Great Lakes?

Sorry for the delay, well I asked my sailor here's the info he gave me: They will have a total of 3 schools in great lakes, 1st is BECC (that's where my sailor is right now) 2nd is ATT school and 3rd is 9 Charlie (I thought it was a weird name, but that's how they call it lol). The time to get all this courses done its about 5-6 months, that is if there's no delay in the time the courses start. And he wont get his orders until he reaches 9 charlie. Another thing if they give him verbal orders, remember its not a fact until its written down, some times they give verbal orders to one place, and end up in another. Please feel free to write me whenever, Its nice to know some one related to the same rate, because there's not a lot of EMs non nuke, I'm also learning about all this navy craziness lol :)

Thank you that is such good information to know. I agree it is nice to know someone with the same rate and dont worry I am getting used to the craziness of the navy too! Thanks again!

The name of the third school is 9C, they are saying the C as Charlie that isn't the name of the school.
