While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

One year in...and in need of some support!
Hello Ladies!
So my sailor has been in for a little over a year now. Already, this has been a roller coaster ride. We have been together for five years, and he proposed over the summer while he was home on leave. Right now, it is extremely difficult because he is stationed in Hawaii while I finish college at home in Texas. Every single day has turned into a struggle to tell myself that us being so far apart is the best thing to do. I would much rather be in Hawaii with him! However, I am afraid that if we got married I would not be able to afford to go to nursing school and finish my bachelor's degree in Hawaii! I guess if anybody could just offer up some support or advice that would be so great! I get so tired of nobody around here understanding just how difficult this is!

Hi Kirby, I completely understand. My husband and I got married in Oct of last year. He left for basic 2 weeks ago. Before leaving it has been a constant mental struggle of weather I leave TX to be with him wherever he may be stationed or do I stay here and finish school (I also plan on going to nursing school) The best advice I can give you is to just follow your heart. Don't think that being married will prevent you from finishing school. Being married to your sailor may help you pay for school (GI Bill). I hope my advice help. I am new to this so I may not know what I am talking about but I hope it helps lol

Thanks girl! I think it just helps knowing that somebody else out there understands what I am going through! And yeah, if the GI Bill would help pay for my school I think that may make the decision a lot easier. I just don't know if there is assistance for military spouses, and everything has so many rules and regulations that it is hard to figure out what any of it really means! lol

Yes, I know!! Everything is just so confusing! And not knowing what is going to actually happen doesn't make anything any better. But I am almost positive that if he wants to transfer a portion of his GI Bill to you then he can. Don't let anything hold you back from the one you love. :)

For him to transfer his GI bill he has to be active duty for 6-7 yrs so so don't rush and make that the deciding factor. If you want to be with him just do what feels right. I graduated with a nursing degree and I have additional schooling I'll be doing wherever we get stationed. Nothing was more important to me than being with my husband, I did struggle to realize this. Take some time to think hard.

Thank you so much! I am supposed to be starting in the fall, but it is not a for sure thing yet. I am just struggling with if I don't get accepted maybe getting married and moving with him!

I agree with Anti M, start doing some research. You are welcome and good luck:)
She's right about re-certification but depending on which state some of them easily hand over a new license without additional testing if the license is recent enough, no criminal records, or any misconduct has been reported on it.

Hawaii does allow resident tuition for military spouses in many cases. Be aware a nursing license is state by state, so you might have to re-certify once you move away from Texas.
Have you researched schools in Hawaii? Find out some hard numbers before deciding Hawaii is too expensive.
Just start asking!
