Good afternoon all! I hope everyone is doing well this Friday!  So my husband just got orders to the Navy Yard in D.C. and we are excited!  A long way from El Paso, TX but worth it.  I was just wondering if there were any fellow Navy wives or dependents up there and if I could get some advise on the move/transition as far as paperwork, housing, etc....

Thanks!

I'll be following this! My husband was accepted into the Ceremonial Guard so we will moving to D.C. in about 2 months!!
That's awesome! Please keep in touch with me! We are leaving mid Oct.
I'll send you a friend request!

I just got word on the Housing department.  And there is between a 1-3 month wait.  So far we are looking to stay at the Navy Inn and have our things stored until we get word on housing.

The whole housing thing is stressing me out! They won't let my husband apply for housing until he's done with training. So we'll be waiting for housing also.
I've been lucky! What you can do is use the H.E.A.T. tool. It gets you a head start on filling out the applications for housing. Go to https://homes.mil/heat/DispatchServlet/Back?Mod=HeatWelcome&SSR...

And pick Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling as the permanent duty station. I had my eye on this housing community.. http://lincolnmilitary.com/installations/joint-base-anacostia-bolli...
We just got notice that we have a house ready for us on by the end of this week when we arrive.
Really? I need to look at the link you gave me. I've been looking at Lincoln housing also. Will y'all be living on JBAB?
